Valkyrie Rim Stains

 Is the rims on a 1997 Valkyrie coated with a clear coat ? I cleaned my tires with a strong cleaner and now my rims are stained. What could I use to polish them back out ?

Valks made for US were not clear coated.  Try 600 wet sand and then a mag wheel polish.

Some were clear coated, depends on the year. Someone will chime in I'm sure.

I believe that clear coat on standard rims did not start until 2001.  Those stains should come out with a little polish.

Correct. Standards, 2001-up came with polished/clearcoated wheels and rear drive pumpkin.

Yep...aluminum polish and a special grease........its called L-bow grease   

mine looked very bad when I first got the bike.......now people ask if I had them professionally done..........

Been there - did that. Once. Ten years ago. Took an hour or more of L-bow grease on each side of each wheel to rectify the error of my ways. Was a painful lesson. Don't use the chemical cleaner crap unless you have a charged hose standing by to immediately wash it off.  Yrmv,

There are protective coatings available in certian places on the road that keep pretty much anything from getting to the shine on the wheels (including light)

 Thanks for all the information on removing the stains. I went to WalMart and bought some Turtle Wax Chrome Polish and some Mothers Chrome Polish with the Mothers Power Ball and extension. That was the ticket !!!  I started off with the Turtle Wax , it cut thru the stains quick. Then polished it with the Mothers Chrome polish . My rims look like Chrome now . The turtle wax has more grit in it to cut the stains,and the Mothers has a finer grit to polish. I wish I had taken a before & after picture of my rims now. The Mothers Power Ball let me get up into the rim behind the disc brakes too.
