Intake Manifold O Ring Replacement

K, so I've noticed I'm getting some oil leakage, not a lot, but out of about 3 of my intake manifolds.

I've ordered the O rings and am just going to replace all 6.  Doesn't look like it's going to be a difficult job but just want to run it by the collective to make sure I know about any gotcha's I might encounter in the process.

Any advice?

You'll want to notice that all the parts are indexed so they have a right way to fit and also a wrong way.

Yeah, I think I'll do it one at a time, replace the O ring and put it back together before I go on to the next one.

Be careful pulling the vacuumm lines off the intakes. I ended up pulling one off from under the air box and ended up having to remove the tank and air box to put it back in.

That said, I recently replaced them on Alph's IS and had the job done in 30 mins with no problems.

Someone told me, and I don't remember who that I don't even have to completely remove them.  Just loosen up the rubber grommets from the top, un bolt from the bottom and slip in the O rings.  (of course, after removing the old o ring.)

Thanks for the advice all, I'll let you know how it goes.  Just waiting on getting the rings in from Cheap Cycle parts.

Loki, the hardest part was making sure the o-rings stayed in place when I re-positioned the intakes.

Be careful not to overtighten the bolts.  6.5 ft/lbs.

Good advice all.  Still haven't recieved the rings.  Waiting on the order to be shipped.  SLOOOOOW.

Some people hate taking off the tank, so this might sound stupid...

I had the tank off... unbolted the airbox... unbolted all the intake runners from the heads...
now the airbox with the six runners was just free-floating around... it was so easy to
take each runner out, no mashing or stressing with the tubes that go back to the airbox...

Do it the easy way. Remove the six intake bolts on one side. This will let you be able to lift it just a little to put the o-rings in. Once finished with that side do the other side. Taking all the bolts aloose makes it easy.
