I had pretty much decided to try darkside on one of my Valks however yesterday I punctured a rear tire and when i felt it I was riding two up passing a semi on the interstate at 85mph. once i realized it was not wind turbulance I started slowing down and barely made it into a station 1 mile away. Now I wonder what would have happened if this happened on a car tire. Also if I decide to go darkside which tire would give me close to the same radius and as round of face as possible. I trust this groups answers so guide me.

Kind Sir:    Do a search on Darkside and start reading.

Probably no one will tell you which tire to get.   I will say stay away from the Dunlop car tire.  They are stiffer than a board.   That is my only recommendation on a CT.

Presently I run a Goodyear Triple Tread.

In answer to your question, how would it ride out flat, I don't know and I don't think there is anyone on this site who has unless it would be Daniel Meyer...

I've had them go flat on me, but, I usually found it at the Motel the next morning, or at the restaurant after eating.   Hell for all I know, it might have been flat coming into either of those places.......

MUCH better behaved with a flat on the Darkside than a MC tire...Controllable all the way to stop (still a "cheek" clinching event though). Generally they don't unseat, whereas the MC tires always did on me...

Thanks I was concerned they weren't as stiff as a bike tire without air.

People are more passionately opposed to wearing fur than leather because it's safer to harass rich women than bikers.

When you check for a CT, there are some that have a RUN FLAT feature,  the side walls are a little stiffer.     my yokahama CT was a good choice for me..........

I have a General Altimax HP on my IS, and a Falken Ziex 329 on my standard.  I do not recommend the Falken, ONLY because it's not a directional tire.  It seems to ride fine... but I discovered AFTER I put it on, and decided not to throw it out.  It seems OK.

I am not LOVING the General Altimax either, although I am still convinced I'll keep riding darkside.  But I doubt I'll buy another of either of my current ones.  I am not a Dunlop fan.  I am not a Goodyear fan.  So... I have given a bunch of negative feedback.  My next one will probably be a directional Falken, or a Hankook.  Maybe a Cooper Zeon.

Jabba, take a look at Toyo Tires.  A lot of the guys that DarkSided VTX1800s love them.

I've run the Cooper Zeon 2XS for years...Last rear I bought I went with the Fuzion ZRi ...Both are directional and both stick great in the twisties...You WILL NOT get a million miles out of these like the tires made for Grand-ma's Buick.I get between 10,000 and 11,000 out of the Cooper not sure on the Fuzion yet as it was the last tire I bought....10,000 is twice what I got out of DunFlops and Avon M/C tires....10,000 miles thats cool with me its time to service the final drive and splines at that time anyway and thats about all I can get on a front Avon so I can go new meat all around.

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

Let me know if you want to ride mine. Give me a call and we can set it up. I do not regret going darkside at all.  The only problem I have had was getting the bead to seat after mounting. Lots of pressure, and lube.

Thanks I went ahead and ordered the Goodyear TT. got a couple of other issues to fix before it goes together. Got to research nut cage and remove a broken shock bolt from the diff. We've been too quite lately we still need to get together for a ride.

I run the Goodyear TT 205/60, I have not done the nut cage mod. I ride two up lots, me 200lbs, lady 135. 25,000 miles no rubbing ever. This is my 1st darkside and will order another of the same when it wears out.

My Metz 200 had a 3 1/2" contact patch and my current Hankook has 4 1/2" contact patch. Not a huge differance.

Wizard ran his CT flat for several miles and at a pretty good speed. Repaired the leak and ran it home. Post a post on the Texas board and he'll get back to you. He'll also be at Inzane soon.

Thanks for all the replies I'm going to try it and see if it is for me. Just waiting on parts and time now.
