Looking for a good little 12v tire inflator for under $50. Been reading good things about the Slime inflators but what are some others ??  Don't want to go with CO2 or manual tire pumps.  Leaving for Montana and Idaho in a couple weeks and would feel better with an inflator and a few rope plugs .... just in case  :cooldude:

The Slime compressor and these mushroom plugs have helped me out on the 'Wing a couple of times. I hate waiting on a tow truck.

ETA:  the stopngo folks also sell a fitting that screws into a spark plug hole, filling the tire from the engine's compression. I've used such a device on the farm many years ago. It worked well, but I now have an aversion to explosive gasses in my tires....

I bought a Slime compressor last year getting ready for a cross country trip. I'm a strong believer in if you have the tool you'll never need to use one. I did try it out on a couple of my Jeep's tires to see if it would do a car tire, it did that easily. It's electrical plug fits a cigarette lighter socket.

The engine air pump does not put fuel/air mix in the tire. The pump draws in fresh air on intake stroke & forces that fresh air into the line on the compression stroke.

Plus (I don't have one) I heard that they spew out enough air to put a tire back on the bead...

I've had a Slime compressor on the Valk for about 3 years now.  Keep a pack of "sticky string" plugs and the handles in the pouch with it.  I've only needed it once, but I've helped others several times, including some ladies with a baby on the Atlanta by-pass broke down with a flat and no spare on my way to Cheeha a few years ago.  I have a cig lighter port on the pod of my I/S to plug it in.  Won't re-seat a bead, but great in a pinch!  BTW - Took out the slime and used in my riding mower, not in the bike!

Walmart has slime products including compressor.I believe I saw a compressor that was smaller than the slime.

I have one of the SLime tire kits in the wifes car and also one in my storage box on the Dirt bike trailor but just the older model mini compressor on the Valk (got it at Cycle gear sale a coupel years ago for $2.50) they look as well built as any other ones.

Side note I just picked up a couple gallons of slime to add to most of our tires (Cars, Truck, Trailor and maybe dirt bikes) when time allows. Picked it up at walmart on a clearance isle $14.50 a gallon and grabbed a quart size bottle for $6.00 on the first visit before I showed the wife and she said grab a couple so I did.

That little compressor from Wal-Mart has had a lot of miles under its belt riding in the storage box on my Chevy Trike.

Thank God I have not had to use it on my own unit.    I've helped several on the highway get on into town.......   Worked great.    I also have the Stop&Go plug unit.     BE VERY CAREFUL and not bend the tip of this tool.    It will spit out more ruined mushrooms than you will get installed correctly if ya do.   Only option is toss it and go buy an new installer.   I'm kind of rough on them and at present, I'm on #3.

Anymore, since I can't get on the ground and get back up, I let whoever happens to be handy do the installation.  Installer seems to be lasting longer also.

I ended up getting the model # 40001. Everywhere I read was good reviews.

That's the one I picked up at Cycle Gear sale for $2.50 or so, it was cracked but I just glued it all back together and it seems to work just fine.
