Rope Tire Plugs

Is there a right or wrong size to use or doesn't it matter ??  I was looking for some plugs to go with my newly purchased Slime tire inflator. but noticed there are different sizes.

I am no expert but it may depend on the rasp tool size that is used to prep the hole.  I purchased a "complete" kit from the local auto supply chain that had the plugs, rasp, trimmer knife and CO2 bottles with filler.  When it came time to use the plugs for a slow leak I could not find the hole in the tire.

Forget the rope tire plugs.... PITA.  Get yourself the mushroom rubber plug kit from Stop N Go.....

I've only found 2 sizes, short fat ones and long skinny ones.  The fat ones are hard to get in the eye of the insertion needle tool, but the skinny ones are hard to find.

Both sizes work fine.  I've used them dozens of times and ridden on tires plugged with them for probably 100K miles or more.  The worst problem I've ever had was that 2 of them developed slow leaks.

I've read good & bad about the "Stop N Go". They even make a disclaimer for punctures that are at an angle whereas a rope plug won't matter.

Think I'll just get a couple of different sizes of rope plugs and call it good .... plus they're cheap !!

Just get a complete rope plug kit at Walmart.  I have used them MANY times on car tires with great success.  I have not used them on a motorcycle tire yet, but I would have no problem doing so.  Sometimes they are hard to get in the tire, but just use the reamer a couple more times to make the hole bigger and you should have no problem.
