Wife says get a funny movie for tonight.  FAIL

"Saint John of Las Vegas"

Read the box at the video store, said it was a hilarious comedy.  Main star was in Armageddon, (Steve Buscemi - played Rockhound, got his teeth fixed since then) so thought it looked promising. Spike Lee was co producer.

This thing was BORING, we tried to laugh at a few of the early scenes of the movie, but it soon became drawn out and tedious to watch.  Thank gawd it was only 76 minutes long (shoulda known, most decent movies are pushing 120 minutes these days)!  It might have been a funnier movie with a better script and better acting.  Not a good effort.
Steve was a LOT funnier in Armageddon.  He was barely amusing in this one.

Two BIG thumbs down!  >:(

On a better note, check out Pirate Radio.  About the British banning rock radio in the late 60's.  Truly funny.

We just caught one last night with Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, William H Macy, and Marcia Gay Harden called "The Maiden Heist." It's a real hoot. I'd give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Doc,

i'm not a big movie guy.  the last movie i enjoyed was "Amadeus" with Tom Hulce, written by Peter Shaffer, released back in '84.  but, then again, i am a bit of an odd duck......

i thought star wars was good, thirty years ago, then it took them too long to come out with a sequal, by that time i rewatched it and wondered why i thought it was soo good the first time!!

as for comedy, i liked "Hot Fuzz" with Simon Pegg.  there's something about british comedy that gets me.  (monty python, funny stuff)

Saw that one, LMAO.  Funny movie.

We don't go to the theater much, it has to be a movie with a lot of good reviews or a subject we truly like.

Soooo, we usually hit the video store about once a week or so.  Lately, not much to rent unless you like blood, guts, gore, and horror.
Yur SOL if you want comedy right now.  Or thriller, suspense, action (Lady Di would throw in chick flicks too  :D).

Blazing Saddles is one of the funniest motives I've ever seen. I can't help but  watch it  ever time it comes on. Mel Brooks is one funny, twisted thinking guy. :cooldude:

Alph,  you ever watched "A Fish Named Wanda" ?  Very zany British humor.  You might also try "The Full Monty", takes you half the movie to understand the accents tho.  ;D
