Had one of those about 20 years ago.  Mine was an 85.  They had 126 hp and it was scary fast.  It would do 125 in 3rd gear (it was a six speed). As I told the fella that bought it from me, "make sure you have it straighten out before you get on the throttle".  He evidently didn't heed my warning as he crashed it.

V65 Sabre's were the hot rods of their day. A good one is worth what ever you ask for it.

Most ended up wreaked or engine/trans damaged by riders who did not have the skill or good sense to respect them.

Fun motorcycles, very fast, rocket ships.

The Sabre was king until 1985 and Yamaha introduced this:

This is my 1986 model V-Max. 149 hp at the crank with 119 hp at the rear wheel. I use it around town. They can be had for around ~$3k and sometimes less and you have almost 25 years of production to choose from. You'd better watch those wrist spasms though if you want to stay out of trouble.

From time to time I think I'll sell my V-65.  I don't ride it much, I have other bikes, I need the room in the shop etc etc etc. You know, all the usual arguments...  :-\
Then I go for a ride...  Let her accelerate smoothly up to 6000 RPM and then snap it wide open!  :o :o :o
YeeHaaaaw!  ;D
THAT'S why I'll ALWAYS keep the old girl!
