With all the ethanol gas blends what Should you use in the bikes? 87,89,93, Or look for pumps that doesnt have the ethanol sticker on them?

the big girl drinks ethabol like water. I try to stay ethanol-free high octane, myself.

87 with the 10% alky runs just fine in all 3 of our Valks. I have not noticed any significant differences when the 10% blend appeared a few years back.

I run 87 all the time...non-ethanol when I can. Tried the
93 a few times. Only difference is it costs more. YMMV

87 is fine, others just cost more, and do no good. We have almost all 10% ethanol up here in ND, and works just fine.  Never had a gas problem.

Higher octane numbers equal more resistance to burn.  That means more engine deposits from unburned fuel.

I recommend you always run the lowest octane fuel you can safely run and avoid detonation.

The only non-ethanol I've found is Kwik-fill in the north and Marathon in the south.. However, there are any number of stations that sell 90 octane marine fuel without it, but, its pretty expensive..

My Valkyrie definitely runs better with non-ethanol blended gasoline.

Especially so at very low throttle settings and at idle.

I've got the 6 degree trigger wheel installed.

87 for me. Didn't know some gas has ethanol and some didn't. I guess I need to pay more attention

+1  As long as your motor and timing (no mod degree wheel) are stock, buying anything over 87 Octane is a waste of money. As for ethanol - get used to it! Our lovely government has decided that is the way to be green and "energy self sufficient", even though the process of turning corn into ethanol is actually energy negative, (takes more fuel than it saves!!!)all things considered. Ethanol is especially bad on older engines since it literally will eat rubber and plastics components.

My 98 Tourer runs fine on any gasoline, including the 85 octane junk they sell here at high altitude.  However, my 99 IS often knocks without mid grade or premium, especially in hot weather, so I avoid regular grades.  I'm not sure if this is because of the different ignition timing on the IS, of if maybe a trigger wheel was installed (I bought it used and haven't looked in there yet).

Higher octane fuels resist detonation, but the tradeoff is that they have a lower BTU content and hence will reduce mileage and performance a bit.  So, as mentioned in another post, buying a higher octane than you need is a waste of money.

Fortunately our Valkyrie were made after the '70s and the rubber and plastic components are now make to resist alcohol fuels and additive.

I run the cheaper one, I have run it since it came out, and I see no difference in MGM.  Same mileage, same get up and get after it, so  why spend $.20 a gallon more for nothing.

I also use it in my lawn mower, weed eater, tractors, even pour it in the cracks in the drive to kill weeds.   Ethanol is in everything in my garage........
