I wrestled around with that stinking hitch for two hours . . . . and never could get those bolts to line up right. So, I reused the old ones, minus the washers. Worked great. In comparing the bushing supplied to replace the Leatherlyke stock ones, the 'new' ones were slightly smaller in circumference (thus the need for a washer?) The smaller bushings wasn't a factor in getting the bolts in position, but it bugged me that the bags were going to be slightly looser. Anyway, two problems solved by resuing the old bolts.  I can't say I like the 'looks' of the big chrome bars hanging down the side of the fender, but 'it is what it is.' When I got done I hooked up the trailer and ran it around the block a couple of times. It was a little 'bouncy.' I couldn't get out on the highway since it doesn't have a plate yet, but overall, it seemed to pull ok. I'm thinking it will pull even better with a little weight in her. . . .  Next up; wiring the light harness.

Lol. I reversed my bolts that anchor the hitch then ground off the excess so the saddle bags wouldn't rub. My hitch was a homemade job though. It looks to be similar to the hitch doc.

I too learned a whole additional vocabulary when I installed mine in 09. :D

Hitch Doc is fairly easy to install, with a second set of hands.

You only take out 2 bolts at a time.    Rears or fronts 1st and the one that is left comes out last.

I used a pick to line up the nut inside, but now it has a reverse bolt in it so no problem.

Yeah, they can be a b*stard if it is only you doing it.
