Bristol worth it ????

Bristol...the Fall Race???  I used to have tickets to Bristol's Fall Race.  WELL WORTH IT!!!  My seats were on the back stretch right across from the start/finish line.  I was just high enough to see the cars cross the finish line...but couldn't see the front pits.  One thing I really liked about Bristol was the fact that you could see the whole race from your seats.  On the bigger tracks, you only get to see what it right in front of you. 

I gave up my Bristol tickets because I moved too far away to go to it.

The Legend of a Race Track is no longer what it was.


Bullring with only one way to pass, rattle the cage of the car in front of you.

Now with two lanes to run it is most embaressingly boring.

Not my opinion just the way it is.

Still loud though.

Thunder Valley is legend.

Best part about it is just down the Raod on the Hwy 421 is the Snake, like the Dragon but better.

When I was into Drag Racing, my wife and I hauled a camper/trailer combo from California to run a weekend.  I loved the Echo out of the bottom end.
It only had the drag race track then I think.  Anyway we never saw a circle track, but, we weren't lookibng for one of them.

Had to qualify, did so in the 20th spot,

Started the elimination and ended up being in the final.

Pulled up to do a burnout, and the clutch went BANG.
Actually it was the pressure plate.

So, we got to load it up and head for home.
This was before ya tore em down between runs.  LOL.

It back then was called Super Stock SS/1359 was on my window.
427 Ford shaker in a Ranchero, 4 speed, 530 rear posi gear.
NO, it was not a street car.

I blew the transmission out of my old Ford back in the 60's at the drag race track 
It was my practice run - I guess I needed more practice  found out latter the tansmission had the wrong cluster gear, so it was not entirely my falt

Years ago a friend who passed away this year and I hit most of the southern tracks year after year( Bristol , Atlanta,Talladega ,Darlington,Daytona etc...By far the best place to watch a Cup Race is Bristol.Not a bad seat in the place...If you've never been then you should go however if you plan to stay in a motel you need to start calling now Bristol sells out motels for miles around.

I went to every race at Bristol from 85 til 01 (except for when I was in
Desrt Storm) Grand National and Winston Cup. Went to practice and
qualifying. Sat in turn 4. Last 2 years I've turned down FREE tickets.
They have RUINED the track!! Facilities are much improved,
parking is worse, and the track is boring beyond words. What made
Bristol famous? Highest banking in NASCAR. What did some genius
decide to do? Cut down the banking and widen the track!! Moron!!!
Can anybody remember 'New Coke'? Same principle. For the first time
in 25 (?) years the night race is not sold out. I'll be surprised if it EVER
sells out again!! I have been (free) twice since they "improved" the track.
Both times we left before lap 300. If you've NEVER been, it might be a fun
experience. If you've been before you'll kick yourself for wasting your time.

I live in Bristol, been to a few races over the years. Rode the track on the Valk several times. If you've never been to Bristol you should try it at least once. You may like it, you may not. 150,000+ like it every year. 

RJ, the drag strip is right behind the circle track. Circle track was there first.  I always went to the drags more that the NASCAR races.

I went to the fall race a couple of years back.  Beautiful Southern night....great racing....a magical experience.

You'd be crazy not to jump on those tickets.

I'm staying in Wytheville Virginia this weekend for a ride... that's 70 miles away from Bristol... the
motel was almost booked solid when I got a room a week ago...

WE ....Went to the Food City 500 there back on March 21st.  Actually had tickets for the whole week-end.  in my Humble Opinion Bristol......... is AWESOME.........Not a Bad Seat in the house.  But it is SUPER LOUD.  Invest in some good ear muffs.  Take the Tickets...............You won't REGRET It..... As for Parking........Drive all the way down to the track and park in the Free Parking across the road, and catch the free shuttle to the track. It will carry you all the way in, to the gate.  Get there 2-3 hours before the race starts and LOOK AROUND..................ENJOY!!!!
