When I went to bed last night, I noticed some "welts" or what I thought might have been either BIG mosquito bites or maybe ant bites on my back...they were itching a little bit is how I noticed them....well, they are still swollen up tonight and my armpit was itching too, so I found a tick there...Abby pulled it out with tweezers and it was already dead....I'm betting these welts were made from the tick as it crawled up my body??...I wonder if I'd better go let the Dr. take a look in case the tick was carrying something??...

It was obvious that Tick musta liked ya.... but was having trouble finding the right sweet spot.  Either it engorged itself on you and died a happy death or wasn't able to penetrate and kept trying to change dining tables (as evidenced by all the spots).  You sure it was just one Tick?  Did you check to determine if it was a male or female Tick?

According to Wikipedia....    Young ticks have six legs, and mature ticks have eight legs. They are about the size of a sesame seed, and males are black; females have a brick-red abdomen with a black shield-like plate close to their head.

Speaking of Wikipedia, you could submit your photos and become a famous internet sensation.

SS maybe some leeches will help!! :crazy2: Just place them close to the welts and let them SUCK!!!! :uglystupid2: LOL!! ;D Redness is not a good sign, usually means some kinda infection. Lymes is definitely bad news don't wait go get checked out. It can take years to recoup from that and you won't be ridin' during that time. JDW

There are a lot of different kinds of ticks.

I get ticks pretty often.

Those are all tick bites if you ask me.  Ticks don't normally die when they bite you... they usually feed and fall off.  That's what I'd guess all the bites are.  Not several bites from one tick.

The tick you found was probably not dead either... but rather killed when you extracted it.  When I get tick bites, they itch for 60 or 90 days.  It's a LONG time.  I am hyper allergic to them I think.

Now the solution to your FUTURE issues...

Permanone.  I buy it at Wal-Mart, and you spray your clothes with it.  Do NOT spray yourself.  Do not even spray your clothes while you are wearing them.  The stuff is E V I L.  But, it also prevents ticks, and it works on chiggers too, what I am a sponge for.  This stuff KILLS the little blood suckers before they can bite you.

P E R M A N O N E.

It pyrethrecin I think.  But I SWEAR by the stuff.

Turing turkey season I spray my clothes and put them in a trash bag overnight and let them stew... then take them out and hang them up to dry for 30 minutes or so before I head out.  1 treatment lasts 3-4 days.  Retreat that often.  Use it on your socks, shoes, gloves and hat too, and you'll go all season without a tick.

Master Blaster

Looks like a dose of Chiggers, ie Red Bugs, in addition to the tick which from your discription is a Speck Back.  The Chiger bites always itch more intensively than the Tick bites and cause more swelling and redness.  You will live, although a little uncomfortably for the next few days.

A tourist goes on a trip to China. While in China, he is very sexually promiscuous and does not use a condom all the time.

A week after arriving back home, he wakes one morning to find his penis covered with bright green and purple spots. Horrified, he immediately goes to see a doctor.

The doctor, never having seen anything like this before, orders some tests and tells the man to return in two days for the results. The man returns a couple of days later and the doctor says: "I've got bad news for you - you've contracted Mongolian VD. It's very rare and almost unheard of here. We know very little about it".

The man looks a little perplexed and says: "Well, give me a shot or something and fix me up, Doc".

The doctor answers: "I'm sorry, there's no known cure. We're going to have to amputate your penis".

The man screams in horror, "Absolutely not! I want a second opinion".

The doctor replies: "Well, it's your choice. Go ahead if you want, but surgery is your only choice".

The next day, the man seeks out a Chinese doctor, figuring that he'll know more about the disease. The Chinese doctor examines his penis and proclaims: "Ah, yes, Mongolian VD. Vely lare disease".

The guy says to the doctor: "Yeah, yeah, I already know that, but what can we do? My American doctor wants to operate and amputate my penis!"

The Chinese doctor shakes his head and laughs: "Stupid Amelican docta, always want to opelate. Make more money that way. No need to opelate!"

"Oh, Thank God!", the man replies.

"Yes", says the Chinese doctor, "You no worry! Wait two weeks. Dick fall off by itself! You save money."

Workin on the pipeline right of ways..... sometimes we would be in areas with LOTS of ticks and chiggers...Dusted my jeans with flowers of sulfur, and wore a dog flea collar on each boot.  Worked real well!!!!!  At least until ya had to lay down to make a weld on the pipe laid up on skids.  Then they would get on ya.....

The ticks up here chew into you and then the head breaks off if you try and pull them off and the head is left in you.  They say the best way to get them off is cover them with Vaseline which makes it so they can't breath and so they back out of the bite - apparently they breath through their hind end.  Some of the moose are so infested with them that they almost rub themselves bald in the spring trying to get them off.

I can't believe that nobody's come up with the ages old cure that we learned on our Grandpa's knee!
Goes something like this!
Shave 1/2 of each body appendage, spray the remaining hairy parts with charcoal lighter,(usta be lighter fluid but we don't smoke 'round here anymore, remember?)
When your afore mentioned offending critters run screaming from their fiery forest, simply stab each and everyone with your handy dandy ice pic and, Wala, problem's solved!
Sheesh, ya'll ride a great motorcycle and all but ya just don't know squat about medicin' yourownselves!  :D  :D  :D

My granddaddy said that was for lice and crabs, not ticks. We never fret over ticks, just stick a burning match or cigarette butt on the ticks ass until it let loose and yer done.

Bro i had a friend got lyme desease in Arkansas and his life was a living Hell for the next 20 years the pain was so bad in his joints, his wife had to hide his guns from him, for real!
Go get checked out!!!!

Stanley Steamer

they took some blood samples and he told me the area around the bites looked infected and then put me on an antibiotic as a precautionary measure...and he told me that according to the blood test results, I might only have to take a weeks worth of pills but if the tick passed something on to me, then I'd have to take two weeks worth....

In that case I'd suggest sleeping with one eye open and maybe you'd want to  rethink the relationship if you catch her heading towards you with the Vaseline...............

ArmyValker

Definetly ticks! Last year I got sidetracked (lost) while hunting morels and came out with 50+ ticks on me. My legs also got pretty severely chigger-bit. I'd rather sleep with 100 ticks than get into a patch of chiggers!

Best thing yet to pull them. 2 dogs, 3 kids and me, I need something that works.

If it is Lyme and you get it fast its 14 days high test antibiotics.(< been here)  If you catch it later, its intraveinous treatments.
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.
