A really Dumb Question

I know there are several models of the Valkyrie but I don't know what they are and the differences.  I know there is a standard and I think a tourer but are there others?  I see some with farings with double headlights.  Are they a specific model?  Could someone educate me or point me in the right direction?  Thanks again for the help!

The Standard is a naked bike, the Tourer has a windshield and hard saddlebags. The Interstate (I/S) has the hard bags, touring trunk and a fork mounted 3/4 fairing with dual headlights, AM/FM sterio radio and optional CB.
And there's a gazillion things you can add to any of them...

That's because your Tourer isn't a Tourer....it's a Standard. 

Standards have a side reflectors mounted on the upper portion of the rear fender.  The Tourer's reflector is mounted on the side portion of the hard bags and doesn't have one mounted on the rear fender. 



btw.......One more way to tell the differences is that the red ones are the fastest.

I don't think there's such a thing as a Tourer with leather bags from the factory... a difference between
Tourers and Standards is the reflector on the top of the curve on a Standard's rear fender... Tourers
have their "side reflectors" on the hard bags...



I believe the middle RedAndWhite started life as a Standard... only Paul knows what that thing is in
the middle of his rear fender (right most bike)

I completely agree except that's what the model says on the neck of the bike ... it is a 1500CT. Since I am not the original purchaser I can only guess that something in its past required that the rear fender be replaced. Beets me ... love it anyway!

The I/S is the only one with a fuel guage in the tank, as well.
The red ones may be faster, but the green ones are smoother...

There is a Standard (STD)   no bags no windshield from factory

There is a Tourer (T)          bags & windshield from factory

Interstate (I/S)     Fairing, electric gauges, Radio, rear speakers, bags, trunk, and several other little modifications.

Most parts will interchange between the 3 bikes.

Then there is the Rune, total new ballgame there.

Are you sure the tourer didn't have hard or leather bags? Seems to me I test drove a tourer in Sturgis '98 with leather bags. It was a tourer, and it had stiff, hard, leather bags. Not the kind you buy from Dennis Kirk. Ended up buying the I/S the next spring.

Ugly damn things, the first time I ever saw one I hated it, thought "why the hell would anyone want a motor that big with two wheels?"

The first time I rode one ..............I fell in love, as they say Love is blind.

Over the years I have grown even more fond of my ugly little bike, I have watched my mates change bikes on a regular basis, always looking for that perfect bike.
I sit back and think  "I have already found mine"

She is starting to show her age, a little corrosion on the alloy, a few scrapes and scratches, even a small ding. But each scratch, scrape and ding brings with it memories of fantastic rides with friends.
Through it all, she just keeps going, never complaining, always ready to please.
Wet or dry, hot or cold, by myself or with my wife.

Ugly, Thats my bike....Perfect, Thats my bike.
Stock standard except for a screen and saddle bags.
