with all that is going on with the u-joint, i would like to ask a question?  what tool if any do you all use to remove the swing-arm bolt?  thanks.

Jess from VA

Goose, most of us follow this Rattlebars how-to.... and do not remove the swingarm.

I would not remove the swingarm unless you suspect problems there.  I changed my u-joint out rather quickly without removing the swingarm.. and it was easy.

Once you have the rear wheel off, you are minutes away!!

Get your wheel off and out of the way.
Go get your LEFT handed knuckle busting wrench
make sure it is in your left hand,
now jerk on the shaft a couple of times and it should pop out.

You will need a right hand crescent wrench to put it back in.
Mount wheel and all done.

Everyone who sez that you don't need to remove the swingarm to remove/replace the
ujoint is right... it is probably harder to put the little bootie back on, people take the
brake reservoir and some stuff in that area loose to get to it. Lady Draco rolls it back on
itself, gets it pulled up to the right place, and then unrolls it into place (instead of trying
to pull it on)...

To answer your original question, though, there's a Honda tool, and a big hex wrench that
makes taking the swingarm off a piece of cake:
