:-\ i noticed one of the bulbs on low beam is burned out on my I/S.
i did a search and couldn't find anything about bulb replacement on a I/S with
the faring.
Daniel had a good article but his is a tourer.
seems i need to use the 9003 H-4 bulb but is there a trick to changing the bulbs?

sugerbear

yes, small hands. lol.
turn handlbars all the way to one side. neel down and look, you'll see the bulb fixture(one on each side)
remove the plug(large rubber cover with wires sticking out the center).
a wire clip holds the bulb in.
move clip sideways DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREW.
the clip will unhinge.
take the bulb out.
reverse this to install
buy silverstar replacement bulbs use 75-80 watt (bought mine at auto zone. about $40)
been using them for a few years now and they make a world of difference.
replace both bulbs.
buy a manual, it explains a LOT.

Also you will need to cut two of the "tabs" off the bulb to make it fit you do not NEED the adapter ring shown in the link below.

I used Sylvania Silverstar 9003 and they are great.  I have one on my VTX as well... nice and bright.   However, I did get some adapters for the bulbs and bent 2 tabs back on the 9003 bulbs.  If you run high beam during daylight, they might not be the bulbs for you... as their life span on high beam is shorter, or at least that is what I have heard or read.

Oh and you probably heard that you should NOT touch the bulb (glass) with bare hands as that will cause the bulb to burn hot or burn out with any oils from your hands left on the glass.  I used some Dr's rubber gloves and made sure I wiped the bulbs off before I put it in.  The one on my VTX has been working for 3 plus years and Valk going on 2 years.

Here is some other info for ya from Rattlebars.com   http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/#HEADLAMPS
