Big IV

As I was turning out of my driveway onto the road I glimpsed a bike in the distance ahead of me. White helmet in the early morning sun. I didn't recognize it. I know most of the bikes in the area, so I was curious what it was. I throttled on and caught it before the end of the road. I white BMW with bags. At the stop sign I glimpsed the police stickers.
My county doesn't have a police bike.
He was able to turn before I could because of how the traffic was flowing.
I decided I shouldn't chase him. Probably shouldn't race to chase a motorcycle cop. Just seems like a bad idea.
We did get caught by the same road work stop sign. I pulled up along side and chatted with him. He works in the neighboring county, but lives near me. Usually rides in at a different time from me so I haven't crossed paths with him.
He liked the Valk.
I admired the BMW he was riding.
Go boxters!

In his civilian life he rides a HD Ultra. We chatted for a few minutes while we had to wait for machinery to cross the road. Then we went different directioins. It was a nice chat and an oddity on my way to work this morning.

I was at the Honda Hoot one year when they were allowing cops to do test rides on the BMW police special. I tried to get a ride. They wouldn't believe I was a cop. I tried to say I was undercover. They laughed. I had to try.

The BMW had a radar gun mounted above the right cylinder. I thought later I should ask how the heat effects the radar gun calibration. That might be good to know in the future. Maybe next time.
