Installing LED turn signals which one is best to install the equalizer or the flasher unit... :uglystupid2:
What you see is what you get...

Colin

Flasher unit.

Draws less current. Works with LED or normal bulbs. No heat to dissipate. Designed for the task not a bodge which is what the equalisers are.

if you do not want to use either a load equalizer, or a flasher unit, then just take out the turn signal bulb in the headlight shell (the one in the green signal indicator).  then just go ahead and put your led bulbs in.  yes, it will flash faster, but it will not hurt anything...in fact your turn signals will become more noticeable because they are different from everybody elses.

GOOSE

oh, by the way ...leave the indicator bulb out of the head light shell because it is incondesant and the leds will not work with it in.  good luck.  :)

Colin

Put an electronic flasher unit in and you can keep the bulb in the headlamp and also the lights will flash at the proper rate. Incorrect flash rate is an MOT failure.

Ministry of Transport. European equivalent to the Department of Transportation. An MOT failure means the vehicle did not pass inspection.   As to LED turnsignals not working with the indicator light in the headlight shell, that's just a bunch of bull.  Mine did and still does.  I bought a led flasher from Custom Dynamics to use with my led bulbs.

If you want to pay the money eBay ones work just as well. I bought 2 one for normal and one for hazard lights. Work fine with all bulbs both incandescent and LED.

The indicator light is a problem with some LEDs. I had to wire in diodes to prevent both front turn signals from lighting at once. It's not a problem for the rear turn signals.
I thought all front LED turn signals had the problem.
My install was on a standard, which has a single indicator light.
The story might be different on an I/S, which has a left and right indicator light.

Kury and several other manufacturers sell a diode kit to prevent the turn signals from feeding across the indicator.  It's about $6.  Takes about 5-10 minutes to solder in place.

I realize this is a really old thread but I'm hoping someone in the know will pick up on it.  I'm going to be upgrading my standard to LED turn signal bulbs from SupperBrightsLED and am wondering which flasher unit I need to order.  Will this one work?

from Kisan - this is the description of their signal relay - adds a lot of features besides working with LED lights - run/brake/turn, 4-ways, full auto cancel if you install the springs in the switch, timeout and shutoff of turnsignal if you forget, flashes when you brake.

https://www.kisantech.com/application2.php

SM-3 unit is designed as a plug-in replacement for most Honda and some newer European bikes.

signalMinder uses a computer chip to cancel the turn signals. There are three selectable timeouts; 10, 20, 30 seconds.

RUNNING LIGHT OPTION:
By attaching two quick-connect wires included, you can convert ALL FOUR turn signals to running lights and establish a dual-channel system on your bike.

Special Note! For 2009 and up Kawasaki models that have onboard computer diagnostics, or if you have Alarm system that activates turn signals, please select SN-4D harness shown below.

Using the DIP Switch #1, you can keep them off and still have the dual-channel system.

With the dual-channel system, when you activate the RIGHT turn signal three times in succession, you get 4-way hazard flash function.

NEW FEATURE (d17EBxx code)

Built-in RUN-TURN-BRAKE functions
No need to buy other turn signal conversion product. You get all the features of RUN-TURN-BRAKE and automatic signal canelling!

If you hook-up the 12 volt supply from the brakes to the signalMinder brake input:

BRAKE FLASH OPTION will flash the turn signal lamps every time you apply brakes. A short 2 second flash pattern begins with quick flashes then slows down to stay on solid.

BRAKE OVERRIDE OPTION suspends the time-out feature until the brakes are released. This allows continued flashing for those times when you are waiting at the signals to make a turn and do not want the time-out to cancel the flashing.

MORE FEATURES

HANDLE BAR RETURN SPRINGS:
If above options are hooked-up, these tiny return springs can be inserted in the handlebar switch to force it back to neutral automatically. You don't have use the Push-to-cancel of the handlebar switch.

Above options are not required to be installed, but utilizing them allows fully automatic turn signal cancellation. We highly recommend hooking them up.

Please Note! NONE of the wires on the bike have to be cut. The kit includes Scotchlok brand of Insulation Displacement Connectors (IDC) to tap into existing wires.

The last thing you need is to worry about canceling the turn signals! Use all of the built-in options of the signalMinder and enjoy the ride.

signalMinder has an add-on product known as vectraLIGHT. These LED arrays simply plug into the signalMinder and inherit all of it's features. They are designed to mount under the turn signal mirrors.

Yes that one will work but you will have to change the connecting plug on it to mate it to the Valk loom.

I used the Kisan been on bike now for 4 years no problem and changed my signal indicator to led.  Got it from here

Thanks guys.  I know the Kissan Signal Minder comes highly recommended but that's a litttle more money than I wanted to invest in my upgrade right now.  Perhaps down the road.  Superbright also makes an electronic flasher with just bare wire leads and no connector so I'll go ahead and order that one.
