Handling problems

Hi All,
        Well to the bike out Sunday a short test drive (10 miles).. not happy.. I have just installed Daryl's 6 degree triple tees and the Works Shocks..not sure if any of them are to blame or weather my mechanic has done something.. anyway, whenever I try to lean or turn right it feels very stiff .. I dont appear to have any problems on turning left.. know my mechanic did say that there was play in the right shock and set about making a cooper spacer for the bottom and a steel one for the top, there is no play know.. he did this because he said that the left one was tight.. and so should the right.. could this be the cause .. yours confused..recall

recall....do not start to immediately blame the product here.  every one of those trees with that set-up has worked flawlessly.  you do not make ,and install a spacer here, and a spacer there without it changing the dynamics of control and handling.  those shocks have to be able to float per say to work properly.  i think your mechanic made a huge mistake doing what he did here (he has probably ruined at least one if not both of those shocks by basically putting them in a bind, or else bending them at the eyelet.)  have you even ever thought that your mechanic tightened or better yet overtightened the bearing on the three itself?  i do not think so after reading your post.  having that bearing too tight will cause you problems with a raked tree.  i think i would blame the mechanic here, and not the product.

You sure are having some promblems there,I have had the 6 degree and the works 11 inch shocks on my bike for over a year,handles like a dream,the shocks do not requre you to make a spacer washer,sounds like you put the right shock on the wrong side,and the stering head bolts sound to be over torqued,the products are flawless,must be somewhere in the install,take her back down and follow the instructions,id I were you I would be right there with the guy who works on your bike.Better yet ,get some valk buddies over and do it ypurselves,I did.

recall...do the right thing, and listen to what lee is saying...basically this is an install problem with your mechanic as the problem.  get some other outside help, and fix it yourself starting with taking out those shock spacers, and recheck on the tree bearings.  when you solve this problem get back on here and let all of us know it is going good before you go on holiday.

I do not blame the product.. also have spoken with Daryl and my mechanic.. next thing is to remove the washers.. see what happens and thank you Black Dog  I did read your pm.. recall.

I also put on the 6 degree tree this spring and I was not happy. I have Progressive 11.5 inchers on the back. The bike didn't want to go straight, it kept wandering. My passenger wasn't comfortable, she noticed it also. I came close to taking them off but Inzane X was coming and I knew Daryl was going to be there. He took the time to loosen them up and then retighten them with what seemed like a magic touch and wow, what a difference. I now love the 97 with the 6 degrees even better than the IS, it corners like a dream and is rock solid all the way up to 115. It seems I had them to tight. Not sure if Daryl can instruct his method but there is a touch to it.

I too have the same set up on my '98 Std. The shocks are bothering me. They are left and right side specific. You must have the correct shock, on the correct side. The bushing diameters are different.

I have waited for awhile before posting how much I LOVE the 6 degee tripple tree and the new Works Shocks. It took about a 1/2 block and I felt the difference with both mods.

I also added the floorboards that Daryl makes. I just finished a 4300 mile trip and absolutely loved everything he sold me.

One more thing, you can but should not overtighten the tripple tree bolt on the bottom. That might stiffen up the whole stearing thing, but it would probably be evident on both left and right turns.
Start with the shocks.....................Making shims doesn't sound right.

Check the air Preasure in your tires, sounds like one or both are low.
