hook up the audio output of my Garmin Streetpilot 2730 to my I/S stereo so I can hear the audio prompts while the radio is playing?

TIA,
Marty

I'm not sure at all that this can be done... I have a Zumo 550. I plug it it the radio auxiliary input of my Interstate. I can listen to music because the Zumo have a MP3 player in it. To hear what's coming out of the Zumo, I have to switch the bike radio to auxiliary. The only way that I can think you could have the radio and the GPS' prompts at the same time is maybe using a Bluetooth device in your helmet, if you GPS has Bluetooth capability, by any chance...

Good Luck!

I got myself one of these:

http://www.electric-avenues.com/amplirider.html

It is a three input, one output audio amplifier. I plug my MP3 player, Zumo 550, and sometimes my iPhone (only to hear it ring) or sometimes a police scanner (when traveling). You can set each of the item's volume's independently on each item. The Amplirider output is connected to the AUX audio input on the I/S. It is powered; I have a fuse block mounted in the fairing, so power connection is easy.

I mounted mine using double sided 3M body moulding tape to the upper triple tree clamp. I pull the rubber flap over top of it for weather protection (not that it gets that wet up there anyway) and it's hidden out of the way, but I can still get to the volume knob on it easily, even while riding.

Works great and is a quality item.

*EDIT: Sorry, I re-read the original post and saw that you wanted to do this through the radio. Left the post up anyway in case anyone wants to do this through the AUX input.

Marty,

It costs you a bit of money but it is well worth it.  I have the zumo 550 and the wiring harness made by kennedy technology http://www.cellset.com/  it is worth every dollar.  The radio sounds so much better, as well.  If you got questions they can answer just tell them what your needing.  Call me if you need to...  I like your new I/S looks great....  I saw the pics on a previous topic.

I used Kennedy Technology for several audio components on my GoldWing a couple years back - they are great people making good products. Worth checking out.
