Metzler tire question???

I am shopping to replace my front tire.  My old Metz ME880 gave me 16K but is quite bald.
(I shouldn't have ridden it today, but the weather was dry and gorgeous!)

I am looking to replace it with another ME880.

150/80R-17 (72V)   for $165.99  and
150/80-17 (72H)  for 115.99

I thought that ALL ME880 were radial.  But the "R" has me wondering.

Any thoughts??

Just curious, what pressure are you putting in that front Metz? I've put over 16k on mine in the past and weren't bald at that mileage. I used 40 psi in the front, usually 36-37 in my CT in back.

Well even the Metzler site does not define the difference.  I am guessing that the price difference and the "R" means that one is a radial and the other is a bias.

I have been running 40-42 up front and rear both. 
I am larger than most, have a rider about 1/3 of the time, and I ride the canyon twisties all / most of the time.  I thought 15-16K was doing good?  My boot heels are due for new rubber also!

15,000 to 16,000 miles is outstanding in my book I've never got over 11,500 ....My bikes never leave the garage without checking the psi....I run 42 in the front.

All ME-880 Metz are not radials, the R does indeed mean radial, but there are a lot of Harleys out there on ME-880's and are not radial. Also check the speed rating on the bias, usually not as high.

I have a related question. 40-lbs in my front Metzeler(R) caused the light bulbs in the front signals to dislodge out of their sockets. Lower it to 38-lbs and this hasn't been a problem. Has anybody else also experienced this? [2000 Tourer]

I have used a dunlop D404 bias on front and E3 radial on rear with good results, I plan to use a E3 bias with the d404 next It is the american elite used on the screamin eagle Harleys. 180/65/16. Hoser

I've had Metz since 2001. 4-5 rears and 3 fronts. Love them. Never a problem. My fronts go about 23k before they wore out, 40 psi.

I`ve had 880`s on for about 12,000 and I think another 6 to 8 on front and maybe another 5 on rear. Running 40 & 41. I will replace with Metz.

I'm running a Dunlop E-II bias (K491) on the front.  Has over 12k miles and measures at 8.5/32 tread depth.  At this rate it will exceed 50,000 miles. Handling is excellent with a radial rear (Cobra). I've practically eliminated front tire cost. The K491 was discontinued and replaced by the D404 with a nearly identical pattern and slightly less tread depth. I'd look into putting a bias rear on the front if I were you.  Or even if I weren't.

The radial tire also has a higher speed rating the V rating is much higher  than a H rated tire.
