I knew my new golfing friend, Bill, had been in the Army, so after he arrived late for three tee times, I offered a good-natured jab at his tardiness.  "Bill," I said, "I wonder what they used to say in the service when you were late for roll call?"  "They always said the same thing whether I was late or not," he replied.   "Good morning, Colonel!"
