A few months back I

A few months back I asked if anyone knew why my sickle was feeling squirrely in curves & turns. Someone suggested that I check my rear shock upper tower bushings...I did & they were shot. He also gave me a company name to buy some. I bought them & finally got around to installing them. WHOA!!! What a difference. The ones I removed were totally no good. The new ones are made of a very hard material & they work great...no more squirrely feeling. Before I installed the new ones I had to sorta go slow on curves & corners as it felt like I was going to lose control if I pushed it. Now I can smoke my knees in turns. What a difference. If you start getting that squirrely feeling in turns check out your shock tower bushings. Probably should check them periodically anyway as preventitive maintenance concern. I apoligize for not remembering who made the suggestion that I change them but thank you for the suggestion. I hope all of you enjoy your week-end. tommy t

So where did you get them from?

On both the Valk and VTX I am using the VTX F Model lower shock bushings (their uppers are roller bearings).... try Honda part number 52489-HN0-671   Much different and better than the stock rubber bushings.

Some others on the VTX board are using hard Nylon bushings from McMaster Carr     http://www.mcmaster.com/#item/6389K344

Here is an interesting post on the VTX board that discusses some shock bushings, which are the same as ours for the most part.

These are the best Robin IMO and you would be hard pressed to find someone better to deal with  :cooldude:

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

I did mine a while back. It is an easy fix for a part that suffers from wear.

Joe,

Are those hard (solid) bushings or are they pliable to some degree?   They seem a tab pricey .... but if they NEVER need replaced, it might be worth it.

They are very hard. Not rubbery at all. VERY nice.

Just out of curiosity, have you checked your swing arm bearings?  If they go bad you'll also get a squirrely feeling in your back end.

The Swing Arm bearings seem to be good. No laterial movement. The shock tower bushings did the trick for me. tommy t
