how about visiting Ebay's Valkyrie-for-sale webpage to familiarize yourself with the different models/years, read the seller's raves and look over the submitted photos. There not much different mechanically between the models/years excluding the Rune.

I agree, they're attention getters. And just think of the fun you'll have making changes to the appearance that actually will be noticed. Plus, it keeps me out of my wife's hair for hours, although she does have a problem with the expenditures at times. But it's all for a good cause....mine!

I find it humorous that those who posted pictures of their bikes saying "this is what a Valk looks like" have some of the most customized Valks I've ever seen!  

Mike, John, Wizard, Hoser - those are some nice bikes, but there is a snowball's chance that any potential buyer would ever find one that looks like yours.

I guess that's the whole point though.  Get one and make it yours.

Be careful, some of the hardest riders out there are old guys that think they are young.
Of course, I'm not one of them, but you can't have one of mine. LOL G0 for it and have fun looking.

I have owned my 99 I/S since March of 99. bought it new. I love it. Was picking between a goldwing and the Valk at the time. Glad I chose the Valk.
I don't post very often but get a wealth of info here.

No one has mentioned, but if you are considering a Valk, go to our own classifieds. There is always some nice bikes listed.

I mentioned the wealth of info, you can get help doing anything you would need to do on a Valk from the people on this site.

How much better "Tech Support" could you ask for?

  I bought a 2005 Harley Road Glide in 2005.  I wanted a good cruiser/tourer combination and since most of my motorcycling friends had Harleys I thought I should have one too.  I kept the Road Glide for two years and while it was OK, I never fell in love with it.  I probably put 20,000 miles on it in two years, but there was always something missing.  In 2007 I saw a Valkyrie while I was at a motorcycle gathering and really liked what I saw. 
  I started looking on Craigslist and E-Bay and started comparing features of the different Valkyrie models and decided that I wanted a Standard.  I found one on Craigslist, a 1999 with a windshield, leather bags and lots of extras.  The guy hated to put it up for sale, but he had medical problems and could no longer ride.  It was in Nevada, about a 3 hour drive from my house, and I decided to check it out.  I threw my helmet and jacket in the car, just in case, and asked my wife to come along to give her opinion.
  To cut a long story short, my wife said that when we drove up to the house she looked at my face when I saw the bike and she knew that she'd be driving the car home following me on the Valkyrie.  There hasn't been a single time that I've walked into the garage and seen the Valk that I haven't had a smile on my face.  As someone else mentioned in an earlier post, if you want the very best tourer/cruiser you can get, find a Valkyrie and make it your own.  You'll never regret it.

Hey skromfols - glad to hear you're one of us - I know what you mean about walking out to the garage - every time I walk up to the ol girl it just blows me away that I finally own one. Like your avatar says  "you only go around once,   BUT,   if you do it right, once is enough".

Having to leave it out in the weather would be a deal breaker for me... I think the previous owner
of my bike kept it in the weather... I changed out all kinds of rusty bit$ after I got it...maybe some
people here have experience with covers... my only experience with covers is helping pick up a bike
at Cheaha that got blown over during the night when the wind caught its sail cover...

I'll never sell mine period, can't replace it with anything better or would i want to!  Killer bike loads of power and people stare and even take pictures of it.  Not to mention it loves eating Harley's

I keep mine in  one of those car port deals with steel poles and a woven tarp cover. 20 ft X 10 feet Cost me about 250$ .
It handles rain and Canadian winter snows, no problem. Plywood floor raised 1" off the ground.
The tarp material is translucent letting in lots of light for working on the bike. I like working
in there better than a garage for that reason.

I keep two covers each for both of my bikes (4 total). One for clean and polished, and a second cover to throw over an unwashed bike after a day of riding. It's not only for weather, asides from dust and sooth, since I have stalls in the our building's basement garage. But what prying eyes don't see, they won't covet. And what they see, are locks and military grade chains. In Waikiki, they steal anything. Lot of transits, here. Growing up, we never had to lock our doors. Perhaps you can relate to that.

I don't have a garage so I bought a used enclosed trailer. They said it would carry 2 full size dressers. It might carry two HD's, but It will only carry one Valk.
