97 stanard rear tire problem ++++ rubbing??

have a new set of avon venoms put on at the dealer.Have ridden about 100 miles since. noticed today on the outside of the tread both side look shiney like the outer  1/3 of the tread has been rubbing.There  is no tread damage,no cuts etc and it dont extend to the sidewall of the tire.I have looked the inside of the fender over as  and see no evidence of rubbing...Anyone have any ideas??  I weigh 180 and ride one up .

Are you saying you are rubbing in the center of the tread?

If so, sounds like your shocks have taken a crap on ya and are rubbing on bumps.

I'm not sure exactly what you are seeing... but there should be no rubbing... Read off the side wall
exactly what tire the dealer put on there... they don't make Venoms in the Valkyrie size anymore,
so if you have the right tire, I guess it is old... a current Valkyrie Avon tire for the rear would be
"Avon Cobra 180/70R16"...

Put some chalk on the shiney part of the tire that you think rubs.  Ride it for a while and see if the chalk is still there.  If it is missing, the something rubbed it off.

founf the problem,thanks to all the great input!!The tire size is correct,axel tight..the top shock rubber on the right side was worn thru and the shocks were set on the lowest setting..The dealer should have caught the rubber worn tru..but000...problem solved thanks for all the help!!!
