Being somewhat new to VRCC I was wondering where Inzane has been held in the past. Is it held mostly in the Eastern half of the US ??

Yup....forgot, two years in Johnson City. Didn't have the Valk for #1 in Zanesville, health issues kept me from attending anything the second year it was in Colorado. As for 2011, I'm hoping.....

Sodbuster

Looks like it moves around pretty good .... is it usually the same time of year and any thoughts of having it in the Ozarks area (northwestern Arkansas/SW Missouri) ??

It has been for the past several times in the second half of July, but we do have to be open to when we can negotiate a week with the hosting hotel.

The Ozarks have been discussed.  Two issues arise.  Those from dry climates are concerned about the level of the humidity.  The other issue is finding a hotel large enough and willing to host the event.

Have not be to a Inzane ride since 2001. Got to tour the Honda plant also.  That was great. Lots of nice bikes. To many vendor though, I spent way to much money!

Year before last a group of us rode all over Arkansas. Every place we stayed people were very curtious and freindly.  Their are so many nice places to ride lots of nice views. Some of towns have motorcycle maps they had out wide the rides marked out giving miles, food and gas locations.

I figure if lots of people show up it will be good no matter where its at!
What a great day, lets ride!

Hay, Jimmy T... to answer your question. That was the first official Inzane tho a few of the original members had a gathering there or near there the year before. From left to right: Fuzzy(the original Fuzzy from Michigan), MaryMatic, Bagger John, Chili Pepper, Rdkll, Sir Lancelot.

That first gathering in Inzane was absolutely the best... magical even. Everyone was so excited about meeting each other in person and the aftermarket for Valkyrie accessories was very hot at the time. Spent a lot of time ooohing and aaaahing at all the new things available, lots of bolting on of new CHROME! going on in the parking lot and discussions about how to tweak the engine. They had a dyno-drag in the back field so you could race in place, so to speak. Dragbars had the first or second blown Valk there and blew a cylinder on the dyno-drag...two weeks before heading to Bonneville to try to set a record. The place was abuzz with excitement from day one. Plus there were great roads everywhere (555 comes to mind).

Sir Lancelot came all the way from Birmingham, England. Ronbou (who has since passed on from brain cancer) couldn't come to Inzane because of work or something...met Sir Lancelot at the airport, took him home, and loaned him his Valk to ride from Connecticut to the rally. How many folks do you know who would do that for someone they had only talked to in a chat room? That was what this club was like back then. No politics, no nastiness...it was a very special place. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's still a special place for some but it will never be like that again....**wistful sigh*

Edit: I managed to imply that folks don't help each other out any more and that's patently untrue. Folks still help each other out around here at the drop of a hat. That's one of the best things about this club. Doesn't change the fact that IZI was the honeymoon, as Willow puts it. :)

Hey Chili,
There is still a lot of that kind of thing that goes on.  Look at the number of newbie posts from those that are shocked at the lengths that members will go in assisting them.  Or non-newbies just needing a bike checked out or picked up.
If anyone breaks down or wrecks anywhere, a post here or a phone call to one of us, will generally get the ball rolling for the unfortunate individual.
I've had people loan me a bike or make the offer, when I had to fly to an event, because of time constraints.
I'll loan a bike to anyone that needs one... in fact, we now have several Valkyries, so we have one for winter visitors.

While I agree that the flavor of the board has changed, I think our members are as selfless as ever.

Yeah, I know of one generous, self sacrificing young man who flew into Phoenix and rode Connie's bike all the way from Arizona to Olathe.  Now there's a magnanimous act for you.   ;D

I tell you it just doesn't get any better than burning someone else's gas putting miles on someone else's Valkyrie.  I'd do it full time if I could find a way to fed myself in the process.

I do think that the personality, the aura, of the VRCC and InZane has changed over the years.  I'm sure the beginnings were magical when the bike was new and the honeymoon with Honda was yet all foreplay and orgasm, but someone who has attended nine of the ten InZanes said in July of 2010, "This was the best one yet!"

While I think that may have been a bit of overstatement, they are each rich in their own right and 2011 was be a thrill as well.  :cooldude:

Be there: 27 - 31 July 2010, Bellaire, Michigan.

While I agree that the flavor of the board has changed, I completely disagree with the implication that current members are any less willing to help one another out.  A club is what the members make it.  The people who don't like the current trend need to get involved and make positive posts and contributions, instead of lamenting over the past.

I used to jump at the chance to help others and it seemed like there used to be many requestes for help.
It seems that since the finicial decline, there have been fewer requests for help.
Also, I would probably be less generous with initial help.

flamingobabe #44

I think there are fewer request on the board for help...etc...because so many of us have each others cell phone numbers...if not the person you are looking for but we can call someone and they finish the request.....just this past April...Chili n Timbr  called us with a flat tire near Memphis...we called T-N-T...she called Danny and he helped them out....but I will agree in the beginning...the excitment of meeting everyone for the first time was awesome.....but I think everytime I go to a VRCC gathering...I meet someone new...I still get excited...and now my dream has come true....we have a Valk...again.................

JimL

Come on folks, it's Christmas time....be happy!  This forum is a great place to be!  Connie is right on point...get involved and make positive posts and contributions, instead of lamenting over the past.

. .....Flamingo babe speaks the truth. ...we were on the road headed for her and Marks place for the Annual Gathering of the Fools....had a rear tire go at 80mph ...towing a trailer....Chili jumped on her cell and Called FB who put us in touch with Danny...he hooked us up with a Honda Dealer 45 miles away in Memphis that took us right in the minute the flat bed pulled into his lot....got there around noon...around 1:30 we were riding out of his lot with a new Dunny E III on the rear....couldnt have gone much smoother....and I need to give Danny "kudos" and a BIG ol Thank You....for lending a hand when we were far from home and knew no one......not to mention Mark and Charlyene.....who not only put us in touch with Danny...but presented us with a ...Token of our Adventure that day ..when we were at The Gathering....a bottle of wine aptly named...Desolation Flats....we proudly display that bottle on the bar in our kitchen....a quick story on that one....after the bike was done I was outback with the Service Manager thanking him for taking us in so quickly ...shaking his hand I asked how he liked my custom pipes and pointed out the "cross over"...he said yeh...he had seen them and they were nice...he then went on to tell me a story about when the Valkyrie first came out...they had a 97 Red n White in the dealership with Cobras on it...he was all animated iwith that good ol boy southern drawl and says...Man...we used to take that bike out in the parking lot back here and ...RAW HYDE IT !!!!

....far as the VRCC....this March will mark the 10th Anniversary of buying my 01 Interstate and promptly joining the Valkyrie Riders Cruisers Club....in those ten years I think most who have been hanging around this place will agree that there have been a lot of changes. Carl hits on some good points about the honeymoon with Honda and I think Chili has some valid points also when she brings up the subject of political post and the flavor this Board has taken ...especially in the last few years. But I dont think any of us can point at one thing or group of people and say that is the reason some things have happened. Its the Internet....just the nature of the  beast. If you hang around ANY Forum on the Net long enough, I think you will experience "changes" that you percieve as both negative and positive.  The VRCC isn't any different then any other Forum on the Net, except maybe that its a lot more tollerent then most.

The VRCC has been very good to me. The woman in yellow in that picture is Chili Pepper, and  she will soon be my wife...if I act quick enough ..before she wises up.   I met her in the Chatroom...many moons ago. She is the love of my life, and probably the main reason I didnt self destruct a while back, when I was Hell Bent on doing so.

WOW .... I feel like I hit pay dirt with this posting. I've seen names on here I've never seen before. This is a special place this forum for people who choose to ride a special kind of bike. We all need you 'ol timers' who've been around here for a long time to keep up the spirit and to encourage us newbies to carry on the torch so to speak.

Maybe you need to hold the Inzane back in Zaneville to rekindle that spirit - kinda like a 10 yr reunion. Also, is there a reason why it's held mostly in the Eastern USA ??  The Rocky Mtn. states have a lot to offer but maybe there's not many members out there ??
