After a few weeks of winter maintenance (nothing electrical except removal of right front speaker) I turn the key and the 15A fuse for the meter, lights etc blows. Tried a new one and it blew instantly. I haven't washed her heavily but I have been doing some detailing with an armorall damp rag...anyone ever have the same issue?

i'd say ya pinched a wire somewhere when you remounted the speaker cover to the fairing.

Actually haven't remounted that speaker yet, but I am looking at everything in the area; may have buggered something disconnecting the leads. Appreciate the feedback...

well it's quite possible that maybe the wires under the rear fender is shorted. might be just coincedence that it appeared now. also check the wires going to the front turn signals. hav'nt looked at the scymatics to see what all is on that circut.

There is a lot o' stuff on that circuit, including the speed sensor  and meter. Time to start running wires...thanks Lonerider, be safe.

Well, there you go...a simple short; left an add-on accessory hot lead a little loosely wrapped. Hit the frame and that was it. All fixed now.

glad you found it..i know finding shorts can be a real pain in the rectum... i was once trying to find an intermitten short in a machine once. customer was getting pissed and so was i after the third call. so i used all the extra batteries i carry in my van..wired them up to supply 48 volt. and hooked it into the circut..needless to say i had to replace a bunch of fried wiring..but i found my short..LOL..don't try this at home LOL..
