Looking for a Chrome oil filter cover

I've had mine (a HD chrome one from Cobra) for the past 10 years.  However, a friend just bought his "new" '98 and amoung other things a good chrome cover new or used is what he is looking for.  any one know who still sells them or does anyone have a good used one and is willing to part with it??

I use a stainless steel salt/pepper shaker on mine. I have some new ones at home, but will be Jan 7ty before getting home. If insterested let me know and I can send you some pictures when I get home.

There are (or were) several fancy Valk-specific oil filter covers from Jardine, Cobra, Show Chrome, etc.

However these old Harley rear shock top covers at $20 a pair fit the filter perfectly, and are good chrome.  ('52-'86 Big Twin and Sporty shocks.)  I have one been on for about 5 years, and is now beginning to get a little pitted.

I followed Warlock's advice and bought a stainless salt/pepper shaker at a restaurant supply house on Government Blvd in Mobile.  After the holidays, I'm going down there to get one for my 2K I/S.  They were $3.  If your friend wants, I'll pick one up for him.

Agree with the Harley shock covers for the oil filter cover. Looks, great. Easy on/off and it has a good chrome finish. I have had lots of positive comments on it from others. Note: If you use a longer filter than the stock one, it won't cover the entire filter.

I simply can't imagine why anyone would want anything other than a beer can cover? You can change color combinations, use longer than stock filters, just poke a hole, drain/drink and use some tin snips. Had a Black and Tan cover on mine for quite some time, to bad I can't find Carling Black Label - that would match the IS!

I had it parked in front of work one day, when a customer that was walking by bent over and thumped the beer can. He looked at me with a big grin and said, "heck, it's still full!" ....................... Really....?... LOL.

Old thread but I am compelled to report that Coors Light (Siver Bullet) cans do not work . Too narrow and skinny. I'm going for a Heineken can next. Same color as the Valk.

My next Whisky can is prepped ready to update mine when it looks too ratty, I punch a hole in the bottom of the can to empty it and will fit the next one with the top forward facing with the tab still on, like I did with the air horn cover

If you really want to live on the edge, go to Plains, GA (Jimmy Carter Country).  You can buy empty or full cans of Billy Beer!  I've seen them online also.  They will sure start a conversation.

Up round bouts my Brothers place-Northern Illinois another rider was lookin at my beer can on the oil filter. Now mind you it were July and Hot out. He said-heck of a place to carry yer beer.    And I sez-just gittin it cold nuff to drink!  And I turned around and walked away.  RIDE SAFE.

The beer can thing...my thoughts on this is that most beer cans these days are made of very thin walled aluminum, and that would offer little to no protection from a sharp rock being kicked up at the filter at road speed. These Harley chrome shock caps are solid pieces.

Or you could buy an oil filter which has chrome finish. K&N makes those and they aren't that expensive compared to regular filters.

Beer cans may look cool but I doubt they will stop a rock.  My billet aluminum Cobra cover has a couple pretty good marks where something hit it.  Just sain
