Hey, What's all this stuff about a back tire turned backwards on a front wheel? I am going DS next weekend at the local Wrench Session and I couldn't be more exited!! But I cannot figure out this cunnnundrum... back tire turned around on a front wheel. I know that the back tire in question is supposed to be a bias ply tire. Also I am trying to get my mind around the directional issue. I thought that most of these tires are directional.

The idea of a back tire on the front is to get some extra mileage anfdmaybe some added traction. The back tirse have a thicker tread than the fronts. The recomendation to run them backwards is about the braking stress on the front rather than the acceleration stress on rear tires. It has worked for many folks and it suggested by at least one tire manufacturer.

currently at 3,000 miles, would have had a noce flat spot started with the E3's. this tire still looks brand new. backward bias on the front and a CT on the rear is the way to go for me.

It has a directional arrow. Running it that way because of braking issue. If you look at a Avon Venon front tire and roll it beside that one the thread pattern almost the same.

Its been said many times. The directional rotation arrow, doesn't show the direction the tire rotates, but shows the direct the tire must rotate in relation to the forces that act upon it, based upon the way the tire is manufactured.

The rear tire has accelerational force placed upon it, and the front tire has braking force on it. You could take a front tire and place it on the back, but remember to turn it around, because it is no longer having braking force applied upon it, but now needs to have the accelerational force.

I paid $160 for mine +$30 mount&balanced (off the bike). That was our local Honda guy (Mid-Mi) back in June.

i am going to put in my 2 cents here,,
look at the tread on the front tire turned backwards,,,if you run thru rain the tread will pull the water into the center of the tire instead of throwing it away from it causing you to hydroplane the tire,,,
i like the idea of a rear on the front but i would not run it backwards,, you also have braking force on the rear just like the front, the only difference is that there is a constant force under power but the rear coast just like the front too,,sooooooo when i put mine on i will put it on like it goes,,,

Hate to inform you but if you look at your front tire you will notice that they all run towards the center backwards that the nature of the beast.
