It's going to hit my card again 3 February and before I throw another 50 bux at it, I'd like to know if it is worth it or a waste of $$.

It has been used to post ride photos for both the Houston and DFW group for years.  I used it quite extensively.  And there are a lot of photos stored on it from the first years of the DFW chapter forward.  If we can move all the pictures off of the SmugMug and store them safely elsewhere online, or cheaper, then should be no problem.  Also, if no one wants to keep photos of the past, then it could be dropped.  However, I am one of those who think we should preserve the past history of the club.

Shows how out of it I am.  Have just used the old PhotoStash, which pretty much stinks.  I have switched over to using Picassa.  I do like the idea of keeping the old photos alive, but perhaps using a free service?

Didn't even know it existed. Photostash is not working on any of my pc's,  the virus software kicks me off every time. I have been using a free account from PhotoBucket.com and have no issues with it. Do keep the old photo's.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

Let me know how much storage space we're talking about.  I've got a domain where we could put them.

I apologize for not being more clear or complete.  I would never propose that the archive be abandoned.  I was just wondering if we can achieve the same thing(s) for less than $50.00 - preferably free, or really close.

There are 2,022 total uploads using 879.92 MB.

Hmmm, that got me thinking.  Depending on host details, wouldn't the TexasValkrieRiders domain Ghillie set up for email addresses be perfect?  I wonder how much storage comes with that?

He hosts that as a sub-domain on his business' server.  For $60 bucks a year, we could transfer that domain to a hosting site like 1and1 and have several gigs of storage plus a gazillion e-mail addresses.

But in the mean time, I can handle the pictures at my domain.

I have a TDL domain name and a hosting solution I have been pretty pleased with...

I have an install of Wordpress running parallel with photo gallery called Zen Photo.  I hacked up the sylesheet so it looked more like my WP theme. I have been VERY pleased with Zen photo... it is so much easier to use than Coppermine.  I would think, one could install Simple Machines parallel with Zen and have a great running integrated photo gallery and a forum board hosted on the same server(s).

My hosting solution costs about $95 dollars per year and comes with unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited email accounts...  I am in my seventh year with the same company.
