Tire Changers

Does anybody have one?
If so which one and how do you like it?
Can you do Chrome rims with it?
Just paid $70 to have 2 tires off and on with no balancing.

I don't have a tire changer-but i feel your pain. Talked to a custom bike shop here-westplains mo-20 bucks a wheel off and on. He will be more than happy to do my D/S switch. For a little bit of balance- my honda stealer wants 50 a wheel and i have to sign a waiver!!

I have a local guy that I use, $15 mount and balance...he is an auto mech who rides so he bought the machine...I would check you local auto mechanic...

I have the harbor freight tire changer and love it.  It has paid for itself several times over.  Also, if you are worried about your rims, there is a company that sells nylon inserts for the wheel clamps and someone makes a bar with nylon on it to keep from scratching them.  My rims are pretty beat from riding in the winter around here, so I don't worry about the little things.  But even still, the tire changer as sold won't tear up the rims if you are careful and take a few precautions like using a little tape or whatever.

I do not have it yet but this is the one that I am going to be ordering in about 2 weeks.  This changer is just like must shops use.  You have 4 clamps that hole the wheel and the arm does not touch the wheel.  The wheel is what spins. The guy that use to change my tires has one just like it and it works great.  I am tired of paying 35 dollar a wheel and that is me taking off the wheel and then having to back the next day to get it.  that puts me driving about 30 miles round trip a total of 60 miles just to get a tire changed.  and with 3 bikes that a lot of driving just to get new tires.  Here is the link
