Carry a handgun

I'm wondering where you guys carry your handgun when riding?  I've never been into firearms, but thinking it might be nice to have something small, just in case.  Carrying it in a vest pocket gives me visions of painfully broken ribs if I have a mishap.

I carry mine in my vest. I have not gotten to a gun show to buy a under the shoulder holster but that may not be your answer.

I wonder the same thing. I went over the handlebars on my mountain bike with one of those little
bike pumps in my backback. I landed on my back and it hurt like crap (like a bruised or cracked rib)
for several months...

Youd better have a CCW to have it on your person........Many states like FL let you have a gun in your vehicle as long as its not readily accesible without a CCW or registration...(mine stays in my saddle bag in a case)  FL law says in a case (suitable holster qualifies) and not readily accessible and your good to go

The smaller pistols, such as a KelTec 380 or other similar pistol fit in the rear jeans pocket nicely and give balance to the wallet in the other pocket.  I figure I got plenty of cushion back there if need be.  Slightly larger  KelTec PF9 could be in a vest pocket, side pant pocket, side holster or tank/windshield bag etc.  I can't think of "comfortably carrying on the body" anything larger than either of those while riding. 

If you are really concerned about a pistol, weapon or something else hurting you somehow if/when you have a mishap and go over the bars... then maybe you should not be riding???   I would imagine my w/shield or the ultimate landing area, wherever that might be, might hurt me more than anything I have on me or in my pockets to begin with.   Or you could weigh the odds of the mishap happening and the weapon causing damage/pain.... against the possibility of needing a weapon to begin with and make your decision accordingly.  It is a personal preference/decision.....

My Kel-Tec 380 sits in this holster in my R.F. jeans pocket. Wouldn't be easy to pull it while sitting on the bike but I doubt I could hit anything with it while ridin anyway!!

I would recommend a compact revolver in a tank bag  when riding, bag stowed in a locked hardbag if not wanting to carry on stops, in concealment holster the rest of the time.  Of course I would never follow my own advice!     hoser

My J-frame is in my saddlebag (set up to easily reach in and pull it), since I'll probably get off to have a gunfight.  Depending on if I was going to be somewhere bad.... which I almost never do, I can put my J-frame (or a colt lightweight commander) in my inside jacket pocket.  I cannot comfortably wear a waist holster while riding (unless I have to).

If I had an LCP, P3AT, northamerican arms, I could put those in my jeans, but I don't.

I can do so with a .44Mag over/under derringer, but it is a lousy carry piece.

When I ride, a wear a helmet... just in case...

When I'm in a cage, I wear a seat belt... just in case...

And when I legally can, I carry... just in case...

I really don't want the one time in my life that I really need ANY of those things the time I thought "Well heck, I won't need a helmet|gun|seat belt today, I'm just going to the local store..."


And as far as the original question, yeah, they're tacky as heck, yeah they're obvious as heck to anyone "in the know" but I carry on the bike (And just about everywhere else too) in a CCW Fanny Pack...

WOW! Are you serious? You have to literally live under a rock to have not ever heard that crime strikes everywhere and not only in "gang-infested territories"! Are all the banks, schools, zippy marts, churches, service stations, and many other places where robberies, murders, and shootings take place around you all located in "gang-infested territories"?

I would imagine that if you were to crash there is a possibility that the weapon could cause more hurt, I never really thought about it like that. (it won't change my mind about carrying)

I carry on a inside jacket pocket, my front pants pocket, a shoulder holster, and sometimes an inside waistband holster, it depends on what I'm wearing at the time.

It's nice to have protection in the hotel room when you're stopped for the night.  There are lots of predators looking to steal (or worse) from innocent travelers.

Motel rooms (and parking lots) are among the most likely places that predators would frequent looking for transient people (if you're traveling, you have money).  (ESP important with your family).  I have been armed in a very nice place, and had a psycho (of some variety) try to break down my door.  Lucky for him the doors and locks were new. (Sorry for the continued thread drift). 

On point;  once registered and in my room for the night, my pistol leaves the saddlebag to the room.  If I leave the room, so does the pistol (except maybe the ice machine).

I would never want to offend a criminal bent on killing my loved ones or me.

I am thinking about putting a sign on my house that States I don't have any guns in my home.

Or all mine are locked up as to take me forever and a day to get to them.

What is wrong with people these days , afraid to confront or kill a would be attacker or killer.

By the way I do carry everywhere but where I work, they pretty much have everybody out gunned.

WHen I carry I carry 3, one for me and one for Joe and One for Greg.

After my rant is over I will answer your question.

Inside the waist band is favorite for me.

WOrst damage that can do is break my hip or just bruise it.

Never carry a weapon in the small of your back, if you fall you could paralyze yourself as a guy I know did.

Vest pocket.  S&W 38 special P+  "Air Light PD"  That puppy is light and powerfull w/o exterior hammer.  I've carried it around in my front pants pocket for hours at a time and you can't see it.  Hardly know it's there.

Ballistics on a 22 mag are surprisingly good, better than any 25 and most 32's. It's been quite a task to find a holster to fit with the laser mounted on the gun. have a Keltec PF9 for extra support. Front pocket mostly, tank bib sometimes.

I have the 22mag version of that as well.... and I just had to see a pic of one with a  laser      So I looked it up.... see below.  I find that gun hurts me more than most of my others when shooting, and can imagine a laser might help it's accuracy on occasion.

 A few years back, I believe it was in Texas when a nut job crashed his truck into a fast food rest. and then proceded to shoot people. A survivor who watched her parents shot dead says that was the one time she left her gun in the glove compartment. Who ever knows where and when. I carry wherever I am legal to (and then some).

Bought my first actual pistol with the intent to carry last Fri. Own several, but not being a large person the ones I already own are to large to be comfortable. Bought a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380. I have been moving it around trying to figure out where to carry it also. It is small enough for my pockets but feels most comfortable in the small of my back inside the pants. Most people I have spoke to about this tell me they have been through several types of holsters and which one they use usually largely depends on the weather. We shall see.

WOW, we are a bunch of COWBOYS riding Iron Horses.  Getting where you can`t call anyone a "ass hole" with out getting shot. 
Back to the subject; I carry in a Dayotna Gear Tank Bag.
