Memphis shades Batwing wont fit

Tried to hook up Batwing today and it seems that the fairing wont come down far enough to engage the clamps on the forks.  The clamps seem to need to come forward more or the headlight needs to be an inch lower.  Has anyone come to this same problem?  I know thousands of these have been installed and i'm probably doing something wrong.  Any feedback is appreciated.  thanks,  Mike T #26295

Yes had the same problem on 2 bikes. Easy fix is get a headlight 2" extension from VTX-treme.com or call Daryl @414-517-9546. I don't think it will fit without it. Did one yesterday. And thy are NOT quick release no mater what thy say. If you need more help, send me a PM.

I did find a way to get my MS to fit on the first try.
But even that was a battle. I didn't want to do any extensions,
so, I removed that dod gamn plastic thing that sits on the
headlight shell.
THEN it fit a lot better. Was able to tilt it further up.
I think the MS fairing was not intended to fit the Valk,
ya got to make some mods.

mounted the headlight on the 2" extension, mounted it to the bottom side, thereby moving it 2" forward and 3/8 down. the upper lip is now flush with the leading edge of the fairing making a perfect fit!

I also used the headlight extension from XF-6 when I mounted mine. I think it looks a little better because the headlight is not buried behind the front of the fairing.

I did have mine set at one time so I could take the fairing off and on with the quick release brackets, in fact I could actually take the fairing off and mount the Memphis shades windshield in its place in only a few minutes, BUT it took a lot of goofing around to get it set to do that.

I have since moved the mounts and I can not do that any more.  I really don't care since I never take the fairing off.

I don't know how my experience is different, but I got mine on just fine without any headlight extension or trimming.  It's a two-man job the first time and you need to keep things loose, but everything should fit.

Mine fit after I took the lower windshield bracket off from under the headlight.

  Does anyone know if the Cobts spots will work with this fairing?

You know, I read this post yesterday morning and was going home at lunch to put my new batwing fairing on. I thought; CRAP!, this might be more than an hour job. But off came the Memphis clear windshield and on went the fairing just fine. The fairing went on first with everything real loose, snugged it up, put the windshield and went back to the office. I got home in the evening, readjusted the fitment a bit, installed the lower deflecters and went for a short hop. I think I like it, but it'll take some time to adjust to the difference. WE'll see. Paint is next and that's a whole other issue.
