HEADLIGHT BLUBS FOR 99 INTERSTATE

HI LOOKING TO CHANGE MY HEADLIGHT BULBS IN MY 99 VALK. INTERSTATE --THINKIN OF THE BRIGHT WHITE ONES  DOES ANYONE KNOW THE BULB # AND THE BEST PLACE TO FIND THESE  HAVIN A HARD TIME FINDING THE RIGHT ONES ---THANKS

Sylvania Silver star ultras are probably bestbang for the buck, but the PIAA Intense white is brighter and some say last a bit longer but they are kinda pricey.

I will post up the links and descriptions when I got off of this phone and get into the office tonight (about 1.5 hours from now) check back after that if you still need information.

You can go up to the 100watt bulbs but for safety you might want to consider replacing your sockets with the high temp automotive replacement sockets like many others have found out

I have been running the NAPA 100 watt bulbs for a couple of years without problems.  Some have had issues with the heat. 

I have been looking at the 6000k HID Xeon conversion kits - lots of suppliers on the net.  These are generally advertised as brighter, drawing less power (35 to 55 watts) and having a greater range.  Haven't found what I consider a good source for "real world" applications but can see the potenial.  Have seen several past thread where folks have discussed ths equipment but no good first hand accounts or experiences.

I found the information on the headlights bulbs as a reference for you. Directly from PIAA website.

Here is an older picture with them lit up, you can get a slight idea of how they look. The headlights in this are the PIAA 60/55 watt Intense white I think they are on the low beams here.  And the POD lights are also PIAA 55watt intense white bulbs.

I also searched for the PIAA H4's at the same online store and WOW! $48.95 this is a good price for a pair of these bulbs I think I paid over $65.xx for the ones I bought.

THANKS YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST !!!!!  IF I GO WITH THE H4 DO I NEED TO TAKE OFF THE BOTTOM TABS  I ALSO HEARD I NEED TO BUY SHIMS OR A SPACER TO MAKE THESE WORK   I WANT THE WHITE LIGHTS BUT I DONT WANT TO MESS ANYTHING UP ---THANKS AGAIN

Lots of folks say the shims are NOT needed, I do not know for sure if that is true..

When I upgraded a few years back I read lots more saying you needed them than folks saying you did not need them so I bought a set of shims and installed them when I installed the lights and they worked perfectly so I never tried going without the shims in place.

Yes you have to clip off the 2 lower alignment tabs for them to fit into the headlight sockets.

Many have been using 80-100 H4 (off-road) bulbs in the interstate (not the std/tourer bucket) with no heat issue in the fairing or wiring, instead of the usual 55-60 H4 auto bulbs.  Properly aimed, the 80 W dims way outshine them, and still do not get flashed by oncoming cages at night.

You cut the tabs, and do not need the shims.
