Saturday on the KLR was a blast.

I'd previously taken my KLR forks and rear shock off. Oil seal leak on one fork leg.

Took forks and shock to Kent at http://www.gmdatl.com/. He rebuilt my ST1300 fork legs last fall.

I had Progressive springs put in the KLR forks along with new oil seals and bushings. 10wt BelRay fork oil.

Kent put a 550 pound spring on the KLR rear shock and fabbed a spacer to keep the beast in place.

What a difference. Now the rear feels like it is glued to the planet and the bike feels 100 pounds lighter.

I had a blast today on the forest service roads north of Dahlonega.

On sections I used to bump along at 20 mph I was able to quite comfortably zip along at 40mph. My enthusiasm was tempered by the balding Shinko 705 tires fore and aft.

Saw one of these



It's a 383 Plymouth Barracuda.

You know something bad happened when you see this photograph. 25 yards from the gouge in the road to where the rider in gray is standing on the scraped rock.



I can't tell any details because the rider from our group is badly hurt.

His bike hit this rock along the way.

The rider ended up with 3 breaks in one leg and a busted up pelvis. His taking blood thinners meant he had to have somethign like 20 units of blood as well. He's a lucky man so far but still listed as critical.
