mis firing

thanks for the help with my mis firing post.I am going to de smog  an change th remaining vac. hoses an change the spark plugs an wires. they are the stock wires an may need replacing as the bike mis fires at all speeds.On another topic if anybody removes the drive shaft it would be wise to ckeck it for runout wiht an indicator. my shaft was bent about .060 an I had to straighten it out an now I have no vibration at high speed.Art

  Let us know what you end up doing, and if you are successful at fixing your problem.  I, too, have a mis-fire in my bike.  Over the winter I removed carbs and cleaned them and added new slow speed jets.  I installed new o-rings in carbs, new o-rings in intakes, and new vac. and fuel lines on engine. I desmogged last summer.  Last week I installed new timing belts and spark plugs.  I have a mis-fire and popping noise from left bank somewhere.  When I remove spark plug wires one at a time, the misfire disappears when I remove #6.  I am going to check timing and adjust valves next.  I would like to test the coil that goes to #5 and #6 cylinders, but am having trouble locating a peak voltage tester.

is # 5 firing ok??  If so the coil is likely good, if you have a problem with 5 as well how about swapping coils around and see if the problem moves with the coil??

Maybe it's teh plug in 6 or the wire??
