Finally got around to the rear brake switch replacement after rebuilding front forks with progressives
and polishing forks and trees.
My brake light quit working last October. Well to my surprize when I pulled the rear brake assembly
from the bike frame and got it up on the workbench it became very apparent why the brake light
quit working.... The switch had melted. Has anyone ever encountered this before???

Well, I put the new switch in and remounted the brake assembly to the bike. Then looked at the
clearance between the heat shield for the switch and the header pipe. Only about .020"
so I removed the assembly one more time and bent the heat shield a small amount and when I
remounted the brake assembly to the bike I shimed it out with one flat washer behind each mounting
bolt. I now have about .060" clearance. Just curious if this has ever happened to any of you???
