I am fairly positive my pair valve is going bad. I know it's clicking like a click and it's really annoying.  I plan on doing the desmog in a couple weeks when I get the time.  Until then should I not ride the bike?  What could happen if this stupid valve fails completely?  I would like to think nothing since I plan on ripping it out and throwing it away soon, but I don't know enough... Thanks for any input, I appreciate you guys helping the less knowledgable folk like myself out.

The PAIR valves simply allow air into the exhaust while at low speeds and idle.  They use check valves to make sure the air only flows into the exhaust, and not exhaust back out.  The clicking is the check valves opening and closing.  Removing them only gets rid of the noise, and reduces the places where vacuum leaks can occur.
