LED Running lights

Has anyone converted there lights on there light bar to LEDs I run 50 watt H3s right now and use them for high beam lights only. LEDs would be easier on the alternator and i would like to run the as day time running lights for extra visibility. Does anyone have experience with these as running lights, do they last and are they bright enough? The price is about 14 bucks per bulb plus shipping. Thanks, Scooter6

+1 on this. I would like to know if LEDs would light up to 100 yards for use as 'critter lights'; seeing deer and such in the ditches before they're on the road. I have 55 watt halogens now, and don't have n HO alternator yet.

Thanks, CA, I thought it was in that range. With the I/S double headlights and the Halogen running lights I still have some juice left over, but I'd like some safety room in case I go with heated clothing etc down the road. The choices are MARS at 890 watts and Compufire at 1300.

As I'm no-where near brave enough to start monkeying around with frame mods, I will likely go with the MARS unit. Should give me lots of extra power, seeing most of my extra lighting is and will be LEDs.

Well, funny you should ask. 

I've been working on making some white LED running lights with some Amber LED's for turn signal flashers all in the same housing.  The lights mount in the regular light bulb socket 'cause it's a regular 1157 light bulb, broken and cleaned out.  I have 40, bright white LED's for regular running lights, and 40 Amber LED's for the turn signal. 

I was going to post some pictures and a write up when I get the WHOLE project complete.  So, if you can be patient and wait at least 3 more hours, I'll post some still pictures, that is, unless I get the video camera out and take some time to post it to YouTube.

I'm at work right now, and won't be home for another hour......
