Bearings are notched, time to replace. After researching, pretty confident on procedure for actual brg replacement, but what about tear down? Is it possible to remove/re-install forks, fender & front wheel as an assembly with the bike strapped down on the lift?
Would this have a detrimental effect on fork alignment after installation?
Of course all other required components would be removed.
What say you?

Barring anything being bent you would have a hard time getting the front end together and it not being in alignment.  All clearances are pretty tight and if it is reassembled correctly you will sure have it back together nice and straight.

Bearings do not normally index themselves so I suggest looking for bent parts since the majority of indexing problems arise from a front end accident and that can always cause more problems that may be overlooked.

I had actually considered that myself..but the more I thought about it and after having two separate front ends apart I believe in the long run it would actually be quicker to take it all apart than to try  and man handle that much bulk and weight, and you'd be sure it was back the way it should be.

IT IS, however, ultimately your choice...

I remember the manual wants you to take all kinds of stuff off... I removed what I thought was the
minimum and, since I had the tank off anyhow, threw a bunch of it "over the handlebars" (including
the handlebars) and strapped on the headlight (I guess I didn't want it hanging by the wires...)
