My rear brake has gotten pretty squeaky recently.  Supposedly has fairly new brakes on it - I just got it a few weeks ago.  Any ideas?

Thanks
Mike

if you have a Standard, the caliper is visible, if a Tourer or Interstate you will need to take the left bag off.  It has 4 bolts inside the bag, remove them and the bag comes off.
In either case, there is a large straight slot screwhead that covers the pin which holds the pads in.  Remove that screw, be sure to use the largest screwdriver that will fit.  Then remove the pin, it has an allen fitting.  The pads will slide out then, note their placement, as you will need to lift up the forward end a little on replacement to get them aligned in a clip at the front.  Replacement is reverse of disassembly.  You should be able to see if they are worn out or not just by looking with a light, but it only takes a few minutes to remove and replace them.

If the brake pads are still good, there is a lube at auto stores that you use lightly on the back of the pads (not the braking surface) if this wasn't used when new pads were installed it can lead to squealing.

Did I understandthat you said the pads are new...........

If so, are they OEM pads?

Do you have stock OEM rotors?

NON OEM pads do not like OEM Rotors.

I have EBC rotors and pads and no problem, everyone else I heard on here or talked to complain of squeal, but I also use the brake quiet spray on all of the pads we relpace, auto, truck or motorcycle.........
