clean up rear end

I'd like to clean up the rear end for aesthetic reasons and to make room for some forward opening bags. 

On my old ACE I had a Kuryakyn laydown plate bracket with an LED light bar frame to light the plate.  I remove the signals completely with a clear alternatives integrated LED unit in the stock brake housing.  I was never quite happy with how you could still see the large indentation in the fender and mounting holes from the original bracket.

I'd like to do the same thing with the Valk but want to do it right and really cover up that original mounting spot.  Any recommendations on how to go remove the stock light/plate bracket and cover up the mounting location?

I'm looking at these with the Clear alternatives LED board...anybody used either of these mounts?  Do they cover up the stock location and, better yet, will they mount with no drilling into the fender?

This is a Kury Lighted frame. I made a new backing plate for it that was flat/curved. I drilled holes in the fender into the recessed area that the turn signal assembly usually bolts into. Creative use of spacers was required. I sealed all holes and used SS hardware. The result is a very clean laid down curved plate.

On another note.. If you didn't want to drill holes you could use heavy duty magnets. No before you question my sanity consider this. I have worked at car dealers for years and have used magnets for demo plates and have never lost one.. And it returns to stock very easily.

I love the look the Valk fender is great looking specially  stripped down. I also modified the Mustang Passenger pillion to accept a plug in Corbin backrest, So I can operate it with no solo bar..
And all I have to do is bolt on the pillion and stick the backrest in..

F6, that's exactly what I was looking for!  Any chance of a close up shot of your mounting or from the back side of the fender?  I guess I have less problem with drilling than I initially though as long as everything can line up right. 

When I did the same thing on the ACE, I seem to remember the bracket not wanting to sit quite right in the recessed area.  The curved laydown bracket looks like it will cover the area up nicely, and it has the lighting for the plate built right in. 

Walkure, I'd assume he is running the smoked tail light lens with a clear alternatives LED board.

I am using theclear alternatives LED..
like I aid, I made the backing plate work, then bolted it to the fender. I used rubber washers between the fender and bracket.
It is a nice clean job.

That makes sense.  I thought you had fab'd a whole new backing plate.  I'm looking at this plate mount with some creative spacers to make it stand off from the fender...I think I might be able to avoid drilling with this one:

Greetings from Glendale, Ca... 

I've been experimenting with various set ups to "clean up" the rear fender. 

I stripped everything off the rear fender and started a cleaner look. I first installed a single Ol' Skool "Behive" fixture.
When done, I thought it looked ok... The next day it didn't look good enough for my taste. So, everything came off... again. 

I then patched all the holes w/a Black tape that is made to "mask" unwanted chrome or other items...
The cheese patch job will remain in place until I reach a final decision. 

Meanwhile, I reinstalled the license plate at a higher location...
It is now where the "depression" left by the OEM tail light removal still is. Far from perfect but ok for now...

Back at the work-bench, I separated the OEM running lights from the stock cluster.
I am referring to the small light fixtures just above the license plate.

I reattached them lights to the license plate mount referenced earlier.  The wiring is nested into the "depressed area" behind the plate...
These are wired still as running lights. The "new" turn signals are in effect the saddlebag light fixtures. 

In the attached link, one might see that I placed two stick-on strips of leds just below the license plate.  Those are the current brake lights. 

When I get "done," the plan is to have a body shop plug all the holes and repaint the fender tail-piece sometime before the earthquake...

Here is what I did...



Kury plate frame, with a lexan backing plate w/flat head bolts through the backing plate, using the OEM mounting holes.  Radianz 6" white LED strip, mounted to the plate frame.  Turn signals are moved out to where the reflectors were on the bags (Trunk is done 'Super Valk; style, and is removable).
