Spent all morning mowing and then tilling and planting.  Got done about 3 PM and decided to take a little ride.  Haven't been on the Valk in three weeks.  Put away the tools grabbed the helmet and gloves and fired up the beast and headed out.  Got about 20 miles down the freeway, was enjoying myself in the wind.  Bike started to sputter a little...starving for fuel....reached down to put her on reserve.  Good thing that I have a dark shield on my helmet so that the passing cars could not see the look of horror on my face as I realized that the bike was already on reserve.  Got over into the right lane hoping to make the next exit.  She died just as I got to the exit....coasted down the off ramp....light at the bottom of the ramp was green....rolled right on through the intersection and into the corner gas station....just my lucky day I guess.  Gassed her up and finished my ride as if nothing happened at all.  Next time I should take a minute to do a pre ride check but I just wanted to get away.    :)

You DID turn it back off reserve, didn't you?  It's laughable when you do it once, it's humiliating to do it twice in a row .....

That's 1 reason why many of us have the last stop of a ride to fuel up before parking. Glad it had a happy ending for ya.  :cooldude:

my reserve stopped working months ago.  :-\
When my reserve stopped working it wasnt much longer I was almost stranded on the way to Daytona.  Half way there it sputterd and almost died, pulled over, waited a minute and started running fine......did that every 5 minutes the rest of the way there and back.  I tried to get a new petcock there, but to no avail

Sounds like the fuel screen in the gas tank is 'semi' clogged .. clean or replace..

I try really hard to make the last stop before puttin phat ghurl in the garage the gasoline stop to refill her tank. While i ain't exactly 100% on it-i have 2 gas stations here where i live. One of em is 24/7. Course the fact the gas guage on my i/s still works don't hurt nuttin either. All that being said-ain't none of us perfect. Poop happens. Glad ya was able to roll up to the pumps. I knows these things ain't that easy to push. RIDE SAFE.

Filling up before you head home will prevent condensation forming in the tank and subsequently prevent rust.

I keep a gan of gas here at home to top of the tank when I get home.  After a 4 mile walk in the HOT august heat one time to get a can of gas when I ran out, I never leave with less than a full tank.  Never ride to reserve either.  Always time to stop, fill up, drink, and take a break.

I have done that too, switched onto reserve and forgot, then had to phone the wife to bring me some gas :uglystupid2:
