Where can I find these D**N freeze plugs???

I live outside of and work in Chicago, the third largest city in the US. Yet, I can't seem to find any place that has the 14mm or even the 9/16" freeze plugs.

Where did you get yours? I have tried AutoZone, Murray's, Advanced Auto, NAPA...all with no luck.

Any ideas?

Got some  at Carquest in Burbank on 79th st.  I think it is 3 or 4 blocks east of Austin Ave.

I did a Desmog lately on my 98 and last friday I blew out one of the 14mm freeze plugs.
Man,....what a racket it made!

I rethought the freeze plug problem, and decided to put a larger allen head screw down into the cavity and fill the remaining hole with JB Weld.  Problem solved.......should have done this before instead of searching all over to find those plugs......and the JB Weld is a permanent fix!

  I just used the orignal plugs cut off the tubing and filled the holes up with JB Weld and put them back in.

I have seen organizer bins of different sized freeze plugs at NAPA Auto Parts stores... They will usually carry metrics as well if you need those.

Hard6 did my desmog and he just did what MrBubbles said.... JB Weld 'em up, let 'em dry well and they will last a lifetime.

Thanks for all the input! When I did the desmog, I used the stock pipe ends and filled with JB weld. When I started the bike and it warmed up, I blipped the throttle a couple times and had the S**T scared out of me when I heard this LOUD engine noise. After my heart re-started I started looking for the source of the noise. Turns out I blew out the pipe ends on both the left AND right side rear positions. So, I am just going to put the caps in and finish off with JB Weld.

And tonight after work, I am going to pick up 4 of the 9/16" plugs from Car Quest Auto Parts....FINALLY !!!

I did this a few years back and I never had a problem. This pic was originally just for show and replaced with SS plug. What I did is go to my local boat shop and bought 4 stainless steel ,if I recall correctly 3/8-16 short plugs. I tapped the tube end put a dot of sealer on the threads and tightened down and I was set.

You just need to put those little chrome hold down jiggermabobs back on top of there.
