Ignition Housing

I have noticed in this Texas 95 - 100 degree heat, my key & ignition housing gets very hot to touch.
Is this normal from engine heat or an electrical issue?

Again, I like the above answers !! I might be apt to blame Mother Nature, she can be a  &%^$* !  The really really smart guys say the sun has been hotter, have you tried keeping the sun away from that area..  You could pull the panel and take a look..
