George the Great Dane is 7ft long, weighs 18 stone (250lbs) and is the world's biggest dog... but he's terrified of chihuahuas (me too, damn ankle biters).  Must use a backhoe for the poop piles.

I can't say for sure, but these two photos appear to have the hallmarks of a carefully photoshopped photo.

Both have few or no shadows, and the couch photo has a pronounced shadow on the back cushion, but very little shadow on the couch under the dog's foot.  Also the floor and background in the couch photo are devoid of detail.

The park photo has anti-aliasing problems around the dog's nose, combined with some bleed over when the image was extracted.

That, along with some unnaturally sharp edges would make me question the authenticity of the photos.  Or, it could be a crappy edit job for the article.

I have seen these before and he is real although some of the photos are taken in such a way as too excentuate the difference in size between george and his owner. Here is a link to photos of him where you will see some others taken in that way known as percieved photos or something like that and some that show more normal, but still a big dog.

True, some photo's can distort size due to perspective, since you are using a 2D picture to represent a 3D subject.  No doubt that technique is used in some of these photos.  Some seem to be digitally enhanced as well.  I agree that this is a very large dog, but it looks like it was exaggerated slightly to make a better story!

Big freakin dogs may appear slightly larger if Bobbo photo shops them. Tiny dogs will appear the size of a school bus when Bobbo is involved....we get it !  still A BIG DAMN DOG

I had dogsat a big German Shepard for a month for a friend years ago... She would go nuts if anyone came near the house...like she wanted to eat them whole... but was deathly afraid of my cat...

When I used to carry the mail, there were always houses that the dog would go nuts, and the owners would say that the Mailman was the only person that the dog would bark at, every single day. The reason for it is that the dog thinks it was successful, chasing the intruder away. The dog would hear the noise, he'd bark, being protective, and the perp would leave immediately. Nothing beats success, in the dog's mind...

I would imagine the trash man would be the same.
