An oil thread...but not a real bad one!

I was at Kmart today to pick up some Mobil 1 since they had a price reduction.  Last time I changed my oil I used Mobil 1 15-50 silver cap.  All they had in stock in 15-50 was gold cap.  What's the difference between silver & gold caps and is there an advantage using one over the other?  Sorry about the oil thread!
