Who rides solo or one up? No back seat and is there a luggage rack for this?

Just as the title indicates, I'm considering going with a solo seat and taking the back seat and rack off but would like to replace that rack with something usable and shiney.

Suggestions?

Oh yeah, my Valk is an 02 Standard.  Black with Red Stripe.

There's a luggage rack that takes the place of the rear seat. Not made anymore though (as far as I know) and quite rare. If one shows up on ebay you may have to fight me for it

There were several racks made for the Valk but as Anvil says they are hard to come by now....I think the ones made for the VTX or Shadow can be modified to fit...here's a photo of one of the more popular ones.....

I ride solo on my Tourer I have a rear rack on my Super Valk no rack. It looks great both ways I would not pay big money for the rear rack.

Why not just mount a nice fender bib and a cruiser bar like this. Looks nice and clean I think. I have a fender rack but don't have it on unless I'm traveling. I often use it in conjunction with the Hondaline rear luggage rack so I can strap down a suitcase flat instead of standing up against the sissy bar.

That looks really nice with the brown/black and just the fender bib.  I think if you don't have any saddle bag racks, then it looks best with just a fender bib.  However, if you have saddle bag racks.... then I kinda think a fender rack is called for.  JMO....

Yes, it's an Ultimate King, bought it sans a cover and had the leather work done to it. I had to cut the nose down a bit to match up with the design already existing on the tank bib, also narrowed the nose slightly. It looks more brown in the pics than in real life, however the leather will get darker with age. The handtooling and raised stitching was done by Carman Allen, Ft. Worth, and was done to match the overall theme of my paintwork. A real artist in my book.  

Here's a closeup of the seat, very comfy on long rides.

  I got lucky and found 1 a few mionths ago.  I paid out the butt for it.  but I knew the look I wanted.  the solo rack and short bar in place of the sissy bar.

While I'd love to have it, that's a lot of green for something I'd like to have versus, something I need.

Very Nice     But, the problem seems to be finding the standard solo rack.

I found two of them at a Yamaha shop. Me and my friend had to barely modify them to fit. They look just like the pictured ones. We paid $30 about 2 months ago. It is actually a Yamaha brand rack.

Photo's are not the best but it gives some idea. I just made a bracket out of aluminum. Bolts in where passenger seat is. Show Chrome makes the racks for Yamaha Honda and Suzuki cruisers. All of them are the same except the mounting hardware. They also sell them in pairs for what they call trike fender racks. I got all 3 racks for around 50$. Sometimes you can get a steal on E-bay if you hit them right.

You really have to see John's bike up close to appreciate everthing he has done to it. There are so many little things, as well as big things, that make up his bike. All are top shelf in regards to detail and quality.

Aaww shucks Steve. Thanks bud, whenever I did something to the bike I always tried to make it a solid installation. If it involved wiring, I learned many years ago to do it right and make it looks as pro as possible the first time. Helps prevent trouble down the road. As for anything else I've done, I simply tried to make them functional changes, as opposed to slapping something on just because it looked shiney. As with most all of our bikes, it's a "work in progress."

One of these days you'll have to stop by and see the '82 Gold Wing trunk I adapted to the Valk. Turned out pretty good(I think) even though I don't like the black paint job the kid did on it. But, I only intend to use it for travel so it's not on there all the time. Maybe if it gets dinged up bad enough to warrant a new paint job, I'll hire a real pro next time.

I do have a question for those folks that have a solo rack, why is it following the curve of the fender?     Seems to me that makes it somewhat difficult to load and secure your baggage.

     Remember now, it's chrome, it doesn't have to be 100% functional. I've never had anything tied to mine.

Well, if it's not functional, I don't need it.  Thinking about welding up my own and then getting it chromed, just not sure what that'll cost but as I said, I'm thinking about it.

It is functional to carry soft luggage. Not as good for hard boxes and such.

WOW That's crazy. I paid $38.00 a few years back, NEW. I never liked it, fit and finish is horrible. I prefer my leather fender bib (like on John Schmidts bike) to prevent scratching if I'm carrying gear. I sold mine for $20.00
