Matching the RPM when down shifting is paramount importance. I drive Semi's and matching tranny to engine RPM is just how its done.  "Shocking" the rotating mass is very bad on the rod and main bearings. Any other diesel drivers are expert at this also.
That being said I dont drive on a track or have a sport bike, and brake pads are cheaper and easier to replace.

The wifes Spyder does it for her on the down shifts. She has to hit a paddle to up shift.

Rolling into a stop the manual says to wait till your RPM's are near idle speed and then pull in the clutch and downshift to 1st.

I try to do this when coming to a complete stop.

When entering a turn on a twisty road I match the motors rpm with thenext gear down and when in the gear of choice

I leave it there for the entire set of twisties.

Such as 3rd for the Dragon on the valk or harley.

4th is my gear of choice on the Chrerohala Skyway on both the Valk and Harley.

Did I mention this will help reduce speeding tickets.

It works great saves tires, brakes, and tranny, and clutch.

I have ALWAYS blipped, since my early days on dirt bikes and pedal cars. Anyone who has ridden with me, after seeing me blip down to a quick stop at a light, always asks "Wow, how did you do that?!?". Although easy to explain, it's VERY difficult to teach! I'll admit, the tight gearing on the Valk took some time to get used to. Had a tendency to over-rev, but got over it.
