Valkyrie In The Making

Misfit (my dad) knew a guy that wrecked his motorcycle a few years ago. He was paralyzed from the chest down and lost both of his legs. He bought a Valkyrie awhile after he crashed to turn into a wheelchair bike. The guy he hired to do it for him didn't have a clue on what he was doing, and messed the whole thing up. Misfit's friend took it back and kept it in his garage. When I got to the age of wanting to ride, my dad thought he could get that bike cheap and fix it up. He went out to his house and his friend ended up just giving it to him. A few days later F6gal called and was beyond nice, and gave me her wrecked Valkyrie from her crash in 01, when she hit the deer. The frame was straight, but most parts were messed up from the wreck. We put both bikes together to make the one. I am so thankful to be able to have the opportunity to be in this club and know so many amazing people. What other 15 year old kid have his own Valkyrie? What other 15 year old kid even knows what a Valkyrie is? I am very fortunate, and lucky to an extent that is non-explainable to get this! I will be in debt to Connie for the rest of my life, but that's perfectly okay!

That is awesome. Great job to everyone involved* who got a bike back on the road where it should be.

*This of course excludes the guy who added a Harbor Freight trailer to a Valkyrie to begin with. He should be flogged.

Oh, and nice color scheme.

nice job doogie....please get you some riding boots though, ground off ankle bones aren't pretty, and get the ladies a helmet... +1 on your full face though!!

What a great story! And I'm sure you learned an awful lot about bikes, puting that one together.

When I was 15, I had a 100cc trail bike and thought I was "bad." I can't imagine if I had owned a Valkyrie.

You always need to respect your bike, for the powerful machine it is, especially after you've been riding it a while and start feeling like an expert. I remember very well the "hot rod" feelings I had.....well, you know where I'm going with that. Just please be careful.

You really have a beautiful motorcycle. It's something to be proud of.

When I was 15 I had a '72 Yamaha LT2 100. Loved that bike and rode the wheels off of it.

I think a wheel chair accessible Valk would be great, but the top "before" pictures do not look like it was ever going to carry a wheel chair. The Seeker shows a nice simple set up. It looks nothing like the trailer body trike. Oh well. It has all been set right and rebuilt. Nice job.

Why should someone who attempted to take a wrecked Valkyrie, and make it work for a wheelchair bound rider, be "flogged"?

I commend him for the attempt, although it failed.

At 15 i was working on my first cage-a very rusty 1954 ford 2 door.

Looks like the two into one worked out rather nicely.

Wow Doogie, you are well on your way to great things!! Working on projects like that will catapult you into even bigger things. When I was 15 I only got to occasionally ride a borrowed 100cc or 125 cc dirt bike or my uncle's "big" street bike - a Honda CB 160....

You jumped right into the deep end right away with the best and one of the biggest!

Remember there are Angels on Earth! Two angels gave you the parts and your Dad made it happen.
Be careful, take an MSF rider course, ride with experienced riders (like Dad) and plan trips with your Dad and other VRCC members. Your life has/will change because of this and use this experience to help others.

Doogie, I'm sure that your parents know you well enough to "cut you a little slack". Thanks to my dad, at 15 I built my own ski boat that we used for years. Some guys are ready for a lot of responsibility at your age and evidently you are. Just remember how much power that bike has and how much it weighs. You did a great job in putting it all together. Actually, Doogie has been riding (and racing) dirt bikes for several years. A 700 pound Valkyrie is, however, a rather big step into the world of cruisers and tourers.

When I turned 15 I bought a honda cb450, and at the time it was the biggest bike at school.
