Replacing the generic hwy pegs I have and looking at Kuryakyn Dually ISO-Pegs with Offset and 1-1/4in. Magnum Quick Clamps from Amazon at $124.  Best price I see and free shipping.

I think the engine guard is 1 1/8" at curve (Tourer) so I'm guessing these will work.  Anyone using them and are they working out OK?

I don't really see the difference between these 2 except about $1. Which one?

Give Mick -o- Peg a call.  They work great on my 98 Tourer.

I installed the dually pegs earlier this summer (the top link) and I like them. Just keep a wrench and allen wrench nearby. When you think you have them tight they will loosen up (Yes, I should reinstall using some locktite. That will be a winter project :))  It took a few times to get them installed where I liked them, you can place them anywhere on the crash bar, but I wouldn't drop them down much past the the middle of the curve, they get a little close to the pavement when cornering. It can be a little warm on the legs from being near the valve covers, but just move your foot toward the outer edge of the peg. The difference between the dually peg and the longhorn peg is the length of the arm, the longhorn is and inch or two longer. Unless you are shorter than 5"9' and a inseam of 30 or less, or 6'"3' with a inseam longer than 34 inches the shorter dually peg should work for you( the measurements are only a guess from my experience with the dually pegs, I'm 6"0 with 32 inches inseam) The quality seems to be good but I only have 1000 or so miles on them, some people have complained in the past about chrome flaking off of Kuryakin pegs, but for me so far so good.

The diameter of the engine guard is indeed 1 1/8".   You will need the 1 1/8" mag quick clamps to fit correctly.  The 1 1/2" is too big, I just went thru this with new Kuryakyn pegs.  If possible buy the pegs with the correct size clamps.  I was not able to find them on the pegs being offered and bought them afterwards.

thanks for info guys.  haven't seen the Kury with the 1 1/8" clamp at discounted price.  6'4" so info about longhorn v dually helpful. Mick-O-Peg seems interesting but twice the $$.

I want to find a set of highway pegs that really lets me stretch my legs out but doesn't limit ground clearance or make me feel like I'm positioning myself to give birth.

I have them on mine.  I put them on the lower bar since I'm a short guy. (5'9" on a good day)

I've got some mounted in this configuration right now.  I'm 6' 7" and they worked pretty well first time out.

I have an I/S, so I really can only mount on the loops of the engine guard. Yes, they require an 1 1/8 inch clamp. The Long Horns are indexed, meaning that they won't rotate once you have them tightened down. Especially when mounting them on the engine guard loops. Also, the longer length gives you a lot more choices of adjustment. You can get all kinds of variations by flipping the clamp around, so the tab that the long horns mount to is either in front of, or behind the loop of the bar.

As has been said in this post by someone else, I also had trouble keeping the shorter offsets to stop from turning when putting weight on them. Matter of fact, I tightened so much that that I ended up stripping the internal threads in the offset on one side.  :uglystupid2:

I also had problems from keeping the clamps themselves from rotating around the loop of the engine guard. I eliminated that by drilling through the clamp and the guard, and tapping the guard for a 1/4 - 20 SS screw. Have not moved since! :cooldude:

The key thing is to wake up breathing! All the rest can be fixed. (Except Stupid - You can't fix that)

It's not that they loosen up, it's they are never tight in the first place.  I have the Kury 4050's and they were always "loosening up on me.  I stripped couple of the bolts/threads by tightening these "loose" bolts.  I eventually placed thin flat pieces of rubber between the crash bar and the clamp and tightened them down, once, really well and they've held on ever since.
