Is there an easy way to check if my 2001 has CA emmissions?

you can look under the bottom of the bike on the back ( rear ) of the motor and if there is a canister there I think it is CA. legal.

Look at the VIN number on the motorcycle, after the first three characters look at the next five and compare them to this list:  http://www.valkyrienorway.com/Discussion%20of%20Variants.html

That will tell you if your bike was originally legal for sale in California.

When the bike was new this was accurate, any modifications done by subsequent owners may change its legality.

There is an EPA sticker under the gas tank on the frame.  It will indicate if it is meets California emissions standards.  You have to show that sticker to the people at the DMV if you are going to register the bike in California.  If the bike has more that 7500 miles on it, it does not have to meet California emissions standards.  I believe that law is to protect the California dealers so that you cannot bring a brand new 49-state motorcycle into California.

Sory to butt in but why does it matter? Are you just curious or is there something new happening here in California that I missed? I know they say that Bikes will be smoged here in California soon and that is why I kept all my smog parts when I did my de-smog an made sure I did not damage any of them.

California Valkyrie's has this ugly coffee can looking thing hangin' under the right side of the bike near where the kick-stand mounts.


I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.
